Branko Milanović on Global Capitalism and Inequalities: UCL Economics Conference 2020

Professor Branko Milanović delves into the features of meritocratic capitalism that propagate systemic inequalities, including homoploutia (a term he coined) and high control of the political process by the rich. He emphasises that the way to counter these inequalities is to promote more widely spread ownership of capital stocks through “pre-redistribution” and equal access to quality education.
