Number 5 A Modern Post for Post Modernism; Raw, energetic , brutal, brutish , yet fabulous spontaneity , real freedom , the ability to break all the rules with the abandon of a child uncorrupted by the chains of conformity which ruins adulthood. A piece which presents a figurative two fingers to the pre conceived demands made by old rusty academics. who impose rules as old Judges impose death penalties and old senators send young men to war . At the same time it mirrors the chaos of modern and post modern living where consumerism, materialism and atheism has us left with nothing to believe in , leaving blue haired, anger filled eunuchs believing they are a victimof their own humanity !!! The innocence and joy of a child and the smell of zyclon B at the same time. A veritable Ordo Ab Chao A piece where every note, key and chord can be used or not used as nature intended ; Hail the size of golf balls hitting the piano. Hail modernism ! A fabulous musical ferocious fart. A fart which sounds like an empty wheely bin being kicked down the aisle of a very large cathedral

While can be seen as a funny comment it only shows your ignorance and lack of knowledge about „new music“. When I studied the Cello I was involved in a John Cage project (songbooks) and in the beginning made fun of it. But when you really dive in to it, you can learn so much about tension and release. I did a few more projects with modern music. there are totally different things to consider while making it. Just like you can’t compare jazz and classical music. My professor was an Mozart expert and evaluated jazz from mozarts point of view. And he hated it, because it broke all the „important“ rules. And guess what. Mozarts music was hated by so many during his lifetime

The secret to mastering modern is in the elbow grease, although one shouldn't ignore spilling a beer on the keys to make them all sticky. It'll make it easier to play atonal chords the next time, and that way you won't accidentally play something that makes sense.

Clearly 5 is a thought provoking piece about the equalness of all the notes, as humans in life and death, as they are hit with the same limb at the same time and released similarly as well. It further exemplifies the dissonance within and without of the society of the notes are pressed together in. BUT considering the clear overal theme of beauty lying in the eye of the beholder, it expresses that our own diversity - as fundamentally equal individuals of the species - is only in as much a hindrance and counterproductive as our social dogma produced preconceptions make it out to be. Truly breathtakingly deep, I wish the composer was known...

Music has some parallels to a lot of the visual art movements of the 20th century. Though most modernist music is easy neither to compose nor to perform. Debussy has many works that are a lot more "out there" compared to Claire de Lune, for an early example of Modernist music for the piano. Tonality gets very hard to discern if not completely gone, but the listening experience is generally pleasant.
