For those who feel like this version has less "punch": the studio version has two more musicians playing, which probably significantly impacts the feel of the whole song (more layers etc.). Also, sound mixing for live performances is often subpar.
@djtazzyjeff3 жыл бұрын
they also couldn't add all the drumming in post....Sorry but this guy has no business trying to play tool. he is a very basic 4/4 studio drummer
@gertnood3 жыл бұрын
Overall sound feels very tightly compressed and dry for want of better words. Beating on the players is inappropriate - this is a bitch to perform live, and the mix here makes them sound like they are buried in pillows. Properly mixed I think you;d hear a lot more substance here than is evident.

All the live stuff (minus the Bulls one a few years ago) have been pretty terrible. Pretty sure, like usual, it is the person mixing their music
@badmonkey914 жыл бұрын
@@T4nkcommander The singer has a wonderful sounding voice, but it's probably suited more to the studio. Where you have infinite retroactive control over your levels. Not alot of volume in her voice. Hard to get thumping levels on your amps and mix in a smaller voice live. No hate to the singer. It's not her technique or ability, she's obviously really talented. Probably just her small build. I think Sam Hope would be a better option live, where as Sophia has a much more interesting sounding voice that records better. Sort of sounds like she sings with alot of head voice. Not going to provide tons of volume. She seems to be straining and probably injuring her voice to pull this off. When she wails, sounds like she's switching to chest voice. That's when her volume kicks in, and it doesn't sound like she's hurting herself.
@crottedepingouin4 жыл бұрын
their drummer plays very softly, they would sound a lot bigger with a good one. as to the single guitar (and no bass) it doesn't help that its thin sounding and undermixed. it's a shame because she's doing a great job on vocals (not mentioning the brass part of course)

This is a very talented band...but what feels missing when they play Tool sometimes? They get the meters and the time right...they get the feel right...it's BASS. Bari Sax and Tuba cannot recreate what Justin does on strings. You guys should at least consider adding bass guitar to Tool covers. Justin's playing is one of their major differentiators.
