Another excellent video. I just recently realized that I need a brass hammer in my tool cart. Glad you mentioned the HF one because that is the one I decided to get. It looks like a good piece, and is only 20 bucks with a coupon. I'm still looking for a dead blow ball pein for a decent price too.

Nice collection! I've been getting into metal casting. Brass hammers are next on my list. Cheers

We used to make brass hammers like those last two in high school. I still have mine.

If I remember we had to grind our own tool for the profiles. Taught a lot of operations was a good project

Doesn't seem any drilling hammers I have are any different slope than the engineers or blacksmith hammers I have. And to me a fuller was always an "upper" or "lower" rounded point for drawing out with a shoulder on heated metal, look nothing like a drilling hammer or engineer's hammer. Most drilling hammers have the "nevada" sledge pattern and most engineer's hammers have the octagonal "chevy emblem" pattern, but the real difference is the handle length, drilling hammers are for single jacking, holding one's own drill chisel while sitting, and have a short 10" handle, engineers hammers are for double-jacking one person handles and twists the drill, the other stands or kneels to hit and have a longer 13"-14" or so handle. I like to use brass hammers as the "middle" hammer, held flush against what I want to hit, exactly the way I want to hit it, then smack it with another hammer on the other side. I hate wooden handles. To obtain good fiberglass handles for cheap, buy a cheap hammer that has the handle you want and use the 4" grinder disc to cut the head off.

Estwing hammer handles will get a little harder with use, and will turn a greenish color.
