Wow, this bloom is fantastic! Congrats on its first bloom! Brassavolas are interesting orchids. But I imagined all of them smelled nice, lol! If it starts to smell like a skunk, let's hope it will be a tame skunk. :D A grower I know bought a very smelly bulbophylum, but then he had to take it out of the house when the beautiful flower finally opened. Apparently it was not the nicest smell, to put it very lightly! But back to your orchid, I love the way this flower looks like. It just looks bigger than it is, and it has a lot of character, like Rachel already pointed out.

Andrea Soilander It smells fantastic! I took a whiff last night, and was expecting to wrinkle my nose. Instead I stood there for a good 5 minutes inhaling the wonderful fragrance. I guess my idea of skunky is completely different than what orchidspecies.com considers skunky. Bubophyllum on the other hand have a lot of smelly flowers in the genus lol.

The fragrance of a brassavola is controlled by light. The darker the night, the more intense the aroma.

MissOrchidGirl Hahah nuns with guns sounds like a heavy metal band. It smells heavenly, thank goodness. Not sure where someone got skunky smelling. They must have a weird sense of smell.

This is a kickass flower , the sepals remind me of a phrag or Paph, but then reminds me of a bulbo. With it being mounted how do you water it to keep it hydrated or it gets rain fall ?

Growing Things When I had it out from under the covered patio it would get rainfall. Now that it is under the covered patio I have to soak it every day.

♡♡♡ great flower ! I have been meaning to get my nodosa mounted .. i think all the seedlings i got from this one vendor suck eggs. They went out of business and it went yellow with spots . I have just left it BC I think it viruses
