Great video👍🏽. I love them too. The Brassavola nodosa are found in the wild here in Jamaica.

Would you consider doing an update on what medium you’re growing each of your genera in? Still using self watering? Who is liking moss?

I love the channel!!! It's helped me so much!!!!! I think brassavolas are the easiest to grow 😅 I went crazy buying up 10 different orchids labeled "exotic orchids" at my Lowe's. I have 5 different species of orchids for maybe 2 months and my brassavola Richard Mueller hybrid is producing a flower spike already while 1 other cattleya just pushed out a new pseudo bulb. The rest are just growing roots 😂 brassavola are extremely vigorous I've noticed. I have my cattleya, encyclia and brassavola In a South facing window bathroom window with a fan on in the room(not directly on the plants) and a humidity of 65-70% temps being 80 during day and 70 degrees at night.

Loved the video. I recently purchased little stars and can't wait to see her in bloom. I bought her as a mini however, she may actually be a seedling. I'm a beginner and have a lot to learn. Can't wait for her to grow up with me.

I love your rhynchovola David sander😍😍. I am luck to have it this 2020 as a gift for myself. Thank you for your tips I can't wait to see mine bloom 😂😂 Your rhyncholaelias Miss Danny are not looking great and I can relate to that, I have one for quite a while and I have to say, that they grow super slow😱😱 and based on first month I got mine, it hated it's roots being damaged. Even a little! And that lead to set back. Leaf tip die back, discoloration of leaves smaller growth etc. I think other cattleya species tend to have very sensitive roots. Brassavolas have more robust root based on my experience. You are lucky though to have the warm temperatures for the cattleyas, mine tends to get low because of afternoon rains. My rhyncholaelia stopped growing. I am looking forward for the updates for your rhyncholaelias. Best of luck for both of us 😆😆

I recently purchased 3 Brassavola hybrids. Which media would you recommend for this type of orchid. One of the brassavola came in fir bark. It seemed to be doing well. The other two were potted in moss. I am not very successful growing anything in moss. I repotted one of the new brassavolas in the same fir bark. The other is in self wicking semi hydro with a mix of Leca and sponge rock. This one seemed to lose some roots initially but then is putting out four new growths and many new roots. I guess I’m still on the fence about the one in semi hydro because of the amount of root loss. I’m interested in what you would recommend. I want to be successful with these type of orchids. I love the delicate flowers and I am fascinated by their growth patterns. Thanks for any feedback you may give me. Be well. 💕

What the Nelly Isler is to you, the Brassovola nodosa is for me... It's my favourite orchid and yet it always dies on me of black rhizome rot. 😭 I'll not stop trying though!!!

I purchased a Brassavola nodosa recently, I was looking for "Lady of the night" but could only find this one. Unfortunately, when it arrived it looked pitiful, in a cheap flimsy plastic pot which fell apart while I was opening the package it was also bone dry. I immediately repotted it in bark in a transparent pot with holes in it and stood it in tepid rain water for 15 mins, then drained it. It still looks very poorly, but, did I do the right thing?

Are the black spots on some of the leaves (other than the tips) fungus? The leaf in the middle of the plant at 2:27 is what I'm referring to. My Bl. Yellow Bird hybrid has this and one of the leaves turned almost completely black also.

I have a nodosa little stars too. Three years now...no blooms!!! What am I doing wrong?? It is mounted on a piece of teak. An old bowl I got at a garage sale. It was cracked so I cut it up for mounting boards. It has just this year started to grow aggressively. It has leca on the bottom with sphagnum on the top. I soak it once a week alternating fertilizer and plain water. I live near Houston Texas and keep it on a covered patio in the Spring and summer.

I'd like to mention the "Blc Little Mermaid Janet ". As a complex brassavola hybrid, I think it might be a great addition. Over all look of the flower looks nice.

Dani, thank you. I waited long time already to see my brassavola to bloom without success. Just today I was looking at them and questioned for the first time ever, why their leaves are dark purple color. You came in the same day with the response. Will try the shaded spot, and will tell you how it works. Blessings and keep on posting this awesome info.

Hi, so I have several brassavolas and their hybrids and mine get several hours of sun a day and they bloom at least four times a year. They all receive the same care and they are all thriving, please note that Im in miami fla and I cultivate outside. Maybe your plant is not mature enough to bloom .
