I just want to say as a tween in the early 2000s I was the exact demographic MGA was trying to target. I was 10 in 2001 when Bratz came out. When I tell y'all my small mind lost it when Bratz came out. They weren't just fashion dolls. They literally did what Mattel couldn't do. Give us diversity with an actual personality. Don’t say there are better reviewers! While the set up for Clawdeena and Froggy’s videos are amazing, and there are so many entertaining doll unboxers, you remain one of my absolute favourites cause you keep it real! I love that you add personal stories to your videos and your channel is incredible! You have such a different style of video to people like Clawdeena that it’s really hard to compare the two, and while Clawdeena is incredible at giving the news and facts about each release, you don’t do that sort of video. I mean heck just bringing in Iconic characters like Iris and Princess Pombles adds to the story of your videos, and your channel is (along with Clawdeena, Elvira and Froggy) one of my absolute favourites! I'm 54 and I never had a problem with the fashion choices of the Bratz dolls. I spoiled my daughter and I bought her all the Bratz dolls and playsets. I'm now an adult doll collector and will be buying these for myself now. Also I was sent home from high school with some of my past fashion choices from the 80's. Lol! My mom did not even get mad she was the one that bought them for me . lol!!!!

Whenever you talk about your son I always get this weird happy feeling in my chest. I'm 22 this year and I've been watching this channel since I was like 13 (?), at the time I identified as a girl but over the passed year I've realised my gender is a lot more...complicated than that. I remember when I was young and played with dolls that I really wasn’t into bratz because I was already into Barbie and American girl, and my mom thought they looked a bit inappropriate for me to play with and she hated the name. My sister got a bratz doll from a friend for her birthday and she wasn’t really a doll person so I got it and I really didn’t care for the doll either, partially because I think their feet and shoes creeped me out. Looking at the dolls now, I can definitely see the appeal of bratz because it tried to do something different and more realistic for girls.

Thank you for being you! It takes a lot to stand against an old version of yourself and being able to change and accept change! I'm a 20 year old Hispanic girl and I didn't really have any exposure with Bratz but I had one because she looked like me! I remembered the commercials and always wanted more but we were on the poorer side of things. I loved the diversity of these dolls and it helped me express who I am! I always love the story of a conservative having an LGBT+ kid and turning around their lifestyle for them, especially when they're as great as you! Some people think people your age can't change their views, but you're living proof that you can and it's not that hard! It may of taken you up until 2015 and beyond, but it's still inspiring! I really enjoyed playing with Bratz as a child/tween. There was something so exciting to me about having all the dolls look different and seem to have different styles. I didn’t understand then what representation was I just knew I liked Sasha and she looked like me. Plus I was always kinda an over the top dresser as a child and the Bratz really encapsulated the look I imagined I had lol! It’s wild to think people saw these toys and thought they were “bad” for their children. It’s also weird seeing now how tame these originals look lol. When I was looking up painting doll faces, I came across a video of a conservative mom who didn’t even want to give a Bratz doll their child had received to a thrift store because they thought it was a dangerous thing. She rubbed all the makeup off with acetone, repainted and reclothed it, and turned it into something that was acceptable to her. I have mixed feelings about Bratz dolls (or other dolls that represent teenagers dressing in a risqué manner), but it struck me like she was trying to rub out the existence of girls who dress like this, and that is wrong. She exuded an arrogant attitude that was far more offensive and dangerous than the doll.

I remember asking my mom about the whole Bratz controversy. And she said, when I was around five years old she gave me a few Bratz dolls and the parents demonized her for it. My mom was pretty carefree at the time and stated, they were fashionable and if I wanted to dress that way in the future. She would allow it. I think what helped her see it positively was the fact she worked as a nurse. So she got to see all types of people during those years. My dad was just fine with whatever I did, as long as it wasn't drugs, drinking or going to raves.

She started out Persian as Isaac Larian, the owner MGA is Iranian-American and named Yasmin after his daughter Jasmin, but the character became Hispanic in the shows. The diversity in how dolls look allow them to become what the children (and adults) need. The real stories come from the children that play with them. As much as I love the storylines that the companies create, it can stifle what the child needs.

I am one of those older people, in my upper 50's and I definitely know what you are talking about. There were SO many sins and no one could ever measure up! And yes...anything a male did or said was your fault because you provoked them! That's just the tip of the iceberg but you can probably see that I truly identify and understand! As a boy who played with “girls” dolls, it’s nice to see an honest review about your own experience and beliefs. My mom usually let me play with what I wanted; although, Bratz seemed to be an issue for her lol. I used to play with my cousin’s Bratz collection-even convincing her she wanted new Bratz dolls when we went to Walmart. I always admired the fashion in Bratz. I feel like boys are programmed to think fashion is exclusive to femininity when it’s not. Bratz was an outlet for me to express the fashion experiments I couldn’t do. You're my favorite doll reviewer/collector/person. Idk something about your eloquence, maturity, thoughtfulness, and sense of humor is just the right match for me as a non-"doll collector person." Bratz is really exciting to me in 2021, I even started following their Instagram when I heard about the re-release. I'm very into the 2000s trends seeping back into our culture, and I think re-releasing Bratz was a PERFECTLY timed idea to capitalize on it. I think they could even put out new/reimagined Bratz that have our modern perspective on noughties fashion. I could also see MGA using a new Bratz line to due more "risque" representation for their tween and older audience like boy dolls with makeup (like so many makeup youtubers) and openly LGBT+ characters. The Bratz Instagram is already very much embracing the more adult/nostalgic fanbase. I was VERY close to getting the collector Cameron doll, but the fashion was a little boring (although a huge positive step for fashionable male dolls), the hair was a little weird (maybe if I gelled it like the artwork I'd like it), but most of all I think they weren't articulated and I kind of expect that for that money.

I think people overestimated the impact dolls clothing and makeup has on girls, when there are other things and people which influences young girls much more.

i have a vivid memory from when i was 5ish. my mom had someone over from our old church (we left that particular one) i was minding my business playing with my bratz dolls and i heard said lady say to my mom "you need to be careful with those bratz dolls, theyre super innapropriate" i remember being so confused. my mom handled it well and said she knew how to raise me. very thankful to have parents that were pretty progressive for the time.

Yeah, I totally get everything you are saying. Bratz came out when I was older but I do remember their release because of my younger cousins. My parents were what I call "chilled out conservative." They were religious but didn't mind my LGBT+ friends. They didn't turn me away from my gothic spooky taste either but just ask that I been respectful toward them while I lived in their household and they supported my finances. (They allowed some things and not others.) It definately influenced me as an adult. Don't be to hard on yourself or this channel, I think we spend our whole lives learning and then redefining ourselves. This channel is special because its your own point of view.

I wasn't around when Bratz first came out, but I had also been raised in a fairly conservative household and I didn't like Bratz years ago because "They were inappropriate" "They look like hookers" etc. But as I have grown I have changed and learned a lot about myself and other things (my own sexuality, fashion sense, identity, etc.) and I LOVE Bratz now, I even ordered the 20th Anniversary Cloe from Hot Topic a few days ago. It's kind of funny because growing up (and even now), my mom has always been super conservative and religious. I've very much grown up in the same kind of household as you mentioned, Melissa. But my mom actually let me get Bratz as a kid and while she wasn't ever really thrilled with how they were dressed, but she still let me get them and I'll always be grateful. I'm so happy to see them coming back and I'm really hoping we get a permanent new line of them coming out alongside LOL OMG and Rainbow High.

Well first, thank you for being so vulnerable and sharing not just your past but your evolution in mindset with us. For me, growing up my mother wasn't about to let her black *slightly feminine and still closeted) son have ANYTHING feminine because she feared it - I'm talking no pink power ranger and even we got in a fight once because a book I was taking to school had a pink slip cover - so when it came to my doll interest it was yet another closet I had to be in at the time. When starting out I also eschewed Bratz for Barbie due to similar 'purity' mindset and the feeling that barbie was 'good' while they were bad and the guilt of 'already doing one bad thing that I liked so let me not be TOO bad'. The bratz kidz won me over and with time I also had that 'clothing does not mean behavior' revelation and now own literally SO many bratz lol. As far as my mother goes it took lots of time and therapy and hard work but I think our relationship is stronger with time and she's gone from literally threatening me about throwing what limited dolls I had away to asking me about them with genuine interest. It doesn't always work that way but I'm glad it did for me and I'm also happy that boy collectors in the generations after me seem to have a much easier time getting these dolls they wanted than I did when I started.

I've moved onto Monster High, and Ever After High as an adult, but as a child I was CRAZY about Bratz! I'll never forget when they first came out back in kindergarden. You'd think they were the latest iPhone with how popular they were. I wanted so badly to be them with how awesome there hair and outfits were. Their pop-off feet used to bug me though cause of how easy they were to lose.I really appreciate the stories you tell in your unboxing videos too.

I was in college when Bratz came out and had decided I was too old for dolls at the time, so I never had any. I remember people at the time making a huge stink about Bratz being "too sexy." It's funny to think about that now. Now that I'm officially "too old" for dolls, I think I'll buy these. LOL.

I'm not the biggest fan of Bratz but some can be really cute to me, I know that they have a big fan base so Mattel is going to gave to make the new up and coming Monster high dolls good quality and good looking to compete with MGA and all their new releases...

Its so nice to see an adult that doesnt think girls shouldnt wear whatever they feel most comfortable in. Im a 16 year old girl and my grandma really tries to control how i look. I prefer to look more on the gothic side and i always have. I was born with blue eyes and blonde hair and since im also the first born of her grandkids. Im the only grandchild who isnt full puerto rican. So, its very important to her how i look. She pretty much says "youre such a pretty girl you shouldnt dress like that" and "i wish you never dyed your hair you were prettier blonde". Every time i make a change to my appearance that i feel good about she always has something to say about it. It makes me feel really bad about myself. Theres so many teens that feel the same way i do. Im glad theres adults like you out there that are so kind and accepting of everyone.

When Bratz came out, I didn't have any kids in my family. They were all in their late teens. But since I always loved kids, I started babysitting for friends' kids. They had Bratz dolls and I was okay playing with them (and I did play along). I found that it is a lot easier to be non-judgmental when they aren't your kids and you respect their parents' choices. With other peoples' kids, you can enjoy them and turn them back over to the ones who are responsible for actually raising them. It was great practice for grandparenting. So I played with Bratz and I have to say that I loved the big shoes that were harder to lose than Barbie shoes. And I loved the variety of boys to choose from. And I find your unboxing and review videos have a unique perspective that makes me really think about things. I am so glad that you do you!

I remember my first Bratz doll was a Midnight Dance Fianna. I found her at BigLots in 2008(?) and I think I was in my early twenties? I didn't end up collecting a lot of Bratz dolls after that, but I do miss them. I had to sell them before I moved away.

I relate so so much to everything you are saying here. I grew up where even Barbie was considered to much simply because she had an adult, developed body. Not to mention that her clothes were supposed to be modern fashions, which was also seen as inherently sexual and bad. My dad regularly called Barbie “the modern Ashtoreth” referencing a goddess framed in the Old Testament as having been a pagan, evil temptation that drew worshipers away from God in ancient Israel. Crazy, I know, but with that sort of environment, you can only imagine how I viewed the Bratz dolls when I saw them hit the shelves in stores at that point in my life. I love getting and dressing fashion dolls now for its own sake, but there is also a part of it that plays into deprogramming myself from the shame based attitudes towards woman’s bodies and clothing I grew up with and that much of my family still holds.

i was completely obsessed w bratz growin up !! my entire family always got me them! my favorites tho were jade & roxxi! my uncle got me the first twin set w them, since then "roxxi" has been my nickname! i still even have all my bratz dolls! & my favorites are displayed!! i was even obsessed w the babyz! also i remember when kaiden got the bratz babyz twinz!! i was so happy for him & i remember that specifically bc of how much i loved the babyz
