FYI they are not difficult to operate, a child without any knowledge of its function could do it, the switches are marked.

As a lifelong wheelchair user, loading on the lift backwards is wrong. You want to go forward so you (the person with a disability) has more control and can see where you are going. If the back end of a wheelchair is too heavy for the lift operation to be safely done, then that is a design flaw in your lift. It is also safer for the person in a wheelchair to get on and off the ramp independently than to add the extra weight of a second person on the ramp. It makes the weight distribution on the ramp off center.
