Yeah, I know I post a lot of videos of Crib Goch. I've been up there a lot recently. What ya gonna do?
I've always wondered how fast I could cross Crib Goch if I tried, and now I know! Anyone dare to challenge me? Well you shouldn't, because you'll probably die.
For quality mountain guiding (next summer) you need a Brave Dave Guided Adventure. Check it out at www.iambravedave.com

Nice one, Rob! Yeah, maybe try to avoid the rain :) But I'm curious, when you say "more off piste" what do you mean? It's not like there are multiple ways along the ridge :P Or do you mean going up the North Ridge rather than from the Pyg track?

hey dave I recommend a little mini hand held camera gyro stabilizer, ya know the thing that keeps it from being shakey, would be a great addition for ur upcoming fat follow up.. it could also work as a better grip on ur camera, I could imagine holding an awkwardly shaped camera would make this more difficult
@BraveDave
@BraveDave 5 жыл бұрын
Holding my camera is actually really easy. I think that a gyro would be more akward to hold and I wouldn't have the wrist control to quickly turn it to face different directions like I do at the moment. Also I think you've misunderstood what the Fat Follow Up is. It's a video about the Big Fat Freight Hop in more detail, not another freight hop :P

Such a shame about the sd card. In hindsight pity you didn't have a 16gb secondary for such a switcheroo encounter and if they happened to confiscate that then so what. @BraveDave
@BraveDave 5 жыл бұрын
Snowdonia is a national park, yes, and all of the mountains in the UK are public access. Snowdon is the most popular and has about half a million walkers a year, I think. One of the routes to the summit includes Crib Goch so naturally you get a lot of people up there in prime season, including some far less experienced than others. Mountain Rescue are always having to go and help people in jeans and/or sandals with no waterproofs who get caught out by a change in weather. Silly people!!

@@BraveDave :) it really annoys me: usually I'm quite rational when it comes to risk.... But while if walking on a plank at 2 feet in the air I'd have no trouble at all, raise that to 100ft my brain would turn so far into jelly I'd probably stumble right off :( Which seems weird because usually the human mind is designed to come to the rescue in a crisis situation. Haha. If it's any consolation, Martin, about 99.999% of people who go up there don't die :P

@@BraveDave I know that too but I'm just one of those people who is not great with heights! More respect to you though for doing it. I must commend you as well for the way you responded during the aftermath of your friends fall where he had sustained multiple fractures. You most likely helped to save his life by keeping him warm and his attention focused. Good on you mate.

Have you ever thought about getting a head mount? Or do you not want to mess up that iconic camera work
@BraveDave
@BraveDave 5 жыл бұрын
My camera is in fact always attached to a head mount, I just wrap the head mount around my wrist and hold the camera in my hand. That way I can switch between the two really easily. However on this run I didn't have time to switch so I could only choose one, and I chose to hold the camera because the footage looks much more interesting when I can point the camera in different directions. (By the way, I like the phrase "iconic camera work") :)

Nah, I reckon Colin Donnelly did it faster when he broke the Welsh 3000 record back in the 80’s....there’s a film of it on here somewhere, well worth a look

I've seen it and it's very impressive. I was comparing his times on each peak to my own when I did the 3000s and I genuinely don't understand how someone can move that fast over that sort of terrain. What a guy!

There's a video on KZbin of just that - guy just freezes and his gf can only watch. It took the addition of a family of walkers behind that got him to get up and all do it together.

The drop to the north of Crib Goch is about 90 meters. If someone fell that height then yes, I expect that they would die.
