I know drop tests and I know Brave Max failed them horribly. But we still got toys almost as big like Ultimate Bumblebee or even one the size of Unicron would be big enough for Minicons to interact with. They could do a drop-test friendly Maximus, but playsets dont sell anymore, so they don't.

Actully the reason we don't have a new Fortress Maximus is because now days toys go threw a "Drop Test" before they make it to stores. Which basically means if small parts break off that could be hazerdous to chidren when the toy is dropped then the toy can't be sold in the United States. Back in the 80's when these first came out safty regulations like this didn't exsist yet. For Japan these safty regulations still don't exsist which is why Car Robots had Brave Maximus when RID did not.

why couldn't you do more than one robot at a time (i.e. Omega Prime)? I've seen other reviewers do it. Just your setup? Or preference? Just curious.

i think the reason that they don't make another fortress maximus is because making something like him with today's standars would be a NIGHTMARE. I think this is also the same reason Devastator from the movie is a robot without robot mode limbs is because doing that would be to complex and a nighmare to actualy stand up. To sum up, i wish something like this would somday with the micro master bases, but those days will never return.

They actully do have modern day play sets. I was just looking at a few yesterday from the movie "Cars", my nephews love that freaking movie. :P Play Sets today are built as several small sturdy play sets that combine in any number of ways and/or can fold up into small child sized suit cases. The problem of this is that if they tried to make a modern day Fortress Maximus it would never live up to the original with the way modern day play sets are made.

Would the number perhaps refer to the Japanese character numbering or something they had at least on G1? Good reason to change it when it's a different character. Just a suggestion.

Wow, I did not know the numbers on the Brave Max ramps were different than that of Fort Max. I have a Fort Max and when you pointed that out I had to look at my Fort Max ramps to see what the numbers were. It reads 21-NR on the original Fort Max while the Brave Max reads 27-KH. I wonder if the letters are acronyms for anything and what the numbers may represent, if they represent anything. I wonder if Grand Max has different numbers on his ramps also. Also, I noticed that the stickers on your Fort Max ramps are misapplied. I recommend obtaining retro stickers from Toyhax.com. You can remove the misapplied ramp stickers using “GoofOff” and then re-apply the retro-stickers by putting the ramps correctly.

had mine from sonokong, a korean company,approved by takara...the autobots logo on the city mode of brave max is inverted and brave max has a little sticker compare to fort and grand maximus,other than that,brave max is awesome....any idea where to get the photon rifle,plasma cannon and the god sword????

Pictures and video reviews really don't do the size of this thing justice. I just got my Encore Fort Max yesterday and took him out of the box expecting him to be big, but how big he actually is just blew me away. I guess I was expecting him to not be that much bigger than Unicron, but he just DWARFS Unicron. They ought to make a bigger version of Unicron that is the same size or bigger than Fort Max now that the Titan class has been introduced with Generations Metroplex. It'd be awesome to have a 2.5 feet tall Unicron, if only an upscaled version of the mold we've already got if nothing else.

Well, they're making another Fort Max right now. It's an extensive retool of Metroplex complete with ramps on the arms, the side turret, and even a deluxe-sized Master and tiny Spike. $180 for the figure, G1 decals, and a Master Sword though...

I must have forgotten the restriction about "no combiners", since they are multiple toys. I voted Omega Prime because I figured there was no way you'd do Brave Maximus. Go figure. XD Of course, Brave Maximus is made of multiple figures, so is he that much different than say a combiner gift set sold as one big piece? Oh, and you'd better mention the two RiD figures that oh-so-beautifully interact with this...

@329Cade Well my Fort Max is kind of the treasure of my collection so I'm not selling any part of it, but it shouldn't be too hard to find the ramps, people sell Max's for parts all the time when they can't successfully complete one on their own.

yeah i was wondering about that because back in the day, i had allot of Micromasters. i LOVE micromasters. And minicons are basically just modern micromasters. And since they are so similar, i ended up collecting hundreds of minicons. I still think the sculpting work and detail on micromasters is cooler though.

Brave Maximus is not Fortress maximus. And nor is Grand Maximus either. All 3 are different charecters. Same with Black Zarak and Scorpinok
