I'm with Leon and Co-Host this movie is not the game-changer and Oscar winner everyone thinks it is

They keep on saying she's a brat, but seriously, she's a teenage girl who is being told that she has to marry some guy she's never even met, also the fact that her mother never even thinks about what she wants or what will make her happy, it's no wonder she acted the way she did.

Well let's say this was in our world where this tradition continued peace between the different kingdoms and if one girl doesn't want to do her part even though it may cause WAR then you make her do it

MrTHEMONEEMAKER well if this tradition continued today then it wouldn't be our world would it?

They keep saying "spiking the mom's drink" when it was a magic pastry the mom ate that turned her into the bear.

I know. That got on my nerves how they kept saying that.

It's extremely interesting that this movie needed more humor, since it was co-written and co-directed by Steve Purcell, whom was previously known for creating, and writing for, the brilliant Sam & Max series (TV, Comic & Game franchise). Sam & Max are always between somewhat funny and laugh-out-loud funny, as well as constantly zany and unpredictable. In fact I'd call it a precursor to Homestar Runner in some ways (or early 21st Century Adult Swim for that matter)

I didnt think the daughter was a brat at all, she was complex as any girl at her age would be in that situation. Full Price. Great movie that speaks to mothers and daughters entirely.

I'm with Cyrus. I think this film was great. Could've been funnier, but i thought the think stuff Pixar did with the story was very unique. CoHost and Leon were being bitches as always.

Brave is officially 10 years old!!! This was such a refresher after the failure of Cars 2 PIXAR went back to quality storytelling Another story featuring a strong female heroine set in the old ages of Celtic culture wanting her independence and choosing diplomacy to fight; shows there's a time for peaceful solutions and a time for action The stuff with her mom turning into a bear tempting fate is overly familiar territory but they make it funny Love the mystical stuff they do with the sprites Nostalgia Critic didn't like Merida being useless as a warrior and found the whole changing into an animal bit quite tiresome Things feel rushed and cluttered and he felt things changed after switching from different directors to writers It has a rocky production history; Brenda Chapman, the first female director for Pixar, started the project as the sole director but was joined by Mark Andrews in a move that felt more like studio interference than one intending creative legitimacy But Critic gives it credit for the main heroine's design and the mother-daughter relationship of Kelly Macdonald and Emma Thompson Plus the resolution at the end is very clever The shots of Scotland are incredible too, the ways that the film plays around with textures, light and shadows are consistently impressive Says bravery is not just what one does (and can do) but what one chooses not to do Yes, they learn to see the world through each other’s eyes but it is in the avoidance of choices, too, that defines so much More modest and less flashy than the other PIXAR installments and I'm happy they featured Merida in Once Upon a Time Season 5
