26:36 is called Brigadeiro, Brigadeiro first appeared in the 1940s, when people were supporting Brigadier Eduardo Gomes, who was running for president. To raise money for the campaign, women invented this sweet treat made with condensed milk, chocolate and butter. The sweet was so successful that it remained popular even after the campaign, and today there is no party in Brazil without brigadeiro. And yes, the name is a tribute to the guy who didn't even win the election, but at least the sweet became a legend!

4:20 - This is called Escondidinho, it's similar to the English shepherd's pie. Probably not better, because it's rarely the main course. 5:44 - This is not intestines, it's stomach (the organ). I don't usually eat any other organs from any other animals, only this one if very well-prepared. 7:20 - Guaraná is a berry from the Amazon rainforest, it's full of caffeine, most Brazilians never actually saw it, me included, only the powder, that we usually put on smoothies. 8:47 - It looks like breaded eggplant. Better when freshly fried, not soggy like that. 14:12 - Kibe is basically a deep-fried buckwheat doe, filled with ground beef and seasoned middle eastern style, or more precisely, Arabian. I'm not sure. And yeah, it doesn't have the best presentation, just like our national dish, feijoada. But I think in both cases, the appearance doesn't make justice to the flavor. Obs.: The main meal mix you made got too dry, we don't usually eat like that. Also, we always have a salad as a side dish, and we don't mix two types of rice or beans.

@dmtvector
@dmtvector 15 күн бұрын
@@CRC.Mismatch If it's really eggplant, it's not peeled, because we don't do that. At least I never saw it. But I did commit a mistake, what I meant by breaded, is not like with bread crumbs/panko, but actually batter. Idk the proper English adjective for this. About the beef/cow stomach. Well, maybe it's not "buchada", it can be another dish, idk. But for sure it's not intestines, because it looks completely different. Just google it

@@pecfreeno, it’s not a sede. Guarana is a small, but had polpa and one seed, is a red fruit, similar to Pitanga (Surinam cherry). The caffeine in coffee promotes vasoconstriction, while the caffeine in guarana promotes vasodilation, and is more potent from an energetic point of view. Due to this stimulating property, it is used to make syrups, bars, powders and soft drinks.

Dude, they served you a perfect set, especially for those who want to know what we eat in Brazil in general. 🤩 In Brazil we usually call "Real food" anything that involves a dish with rice and beans (which would be the main dish) and the rest being some type of meat (Beef, Pork, Chicken, etc...) with side dishes. (I could be wrong, but I think in your case you only had cooked chicken and not pork. I'm not sure...) 🤔 The rest of the dishes presented in the video are snacks, widely consumed in bakeries, normally filled with ground beef or chicken. In Brazil we have a lot of affection for homemade sweets, as it brings back many childhood memories, one that I would recommend that is very famous in Brazil is the Carrot Cake with Chocolate Covering (Bolo de Cenoura). 😋 Guaraná is the name of the fruit used to make the soda (they mainly use the fruit seed). Pastel is widely consumed in open-air markets, where we can mainly buy vegetables, fruits, etc... Anyway, I loved the video and I would recommend eating the same things if you want to learn a little about Brazilian cuisine.😁✌

The Cheetos you ate is "Requeijão' flavoured, it is very similar to cream cheese. It is the same creamy thing inside the first fried thing you tasted, the famous Coxinha (the 'pear shaped' thing with shredded chicken). The 'chocolate fudge' thing you tried is Brigadeiro. It's heated condensed milk with butter and cocoa powder, when you get the right consistency it gets rolled into sprinkles. That's probably why it felt too heavy/syrupy. By far the most common homemade sweet, and every birthday party will have it. When not for a party, lots of people will just eat it with a spoon straight from the pan.

Love to watch ur videos cause you're always honest. This cassava flour seasoned is farofa. This hole plate looks like a regular day to day we have here. The guarana is a fruit from Brazil, is a very tradicional flavour we have here and Antarctica is the best brand, the soda is supposed to be super cold or even with ice rocks inside ❄️. Yes this is eggplant. The mashed potatoes with cheese and chicken is called "escondidinho" what means "a little hidden" then what's hidden? The meat! The meat can be chicken or beef or pork. The cream inside coxinha is called requeijão, it's like a cream of cheese but it's not cream cheese as you know. The brown one is called Kibe and it has Pakistani origins. The triangle one also, and it's called Esfiha. The risoles and coxinhas have the same pastry but the filing decides the shape. The pudim 🍮 is supposed to be upside-down so the liquid caramel turns like a syrup. We also make snacks with pork skin but some people find it disgusting so we make a similar flavor with different ingredients. 😂This Cheetos flavour is exclusive in Brazil, This flavor is based on that cream cheese that was inside the Coxinha. but we also have the regular ones. Brigadeiro is our national sweet, this chocolate with chocolate sprinkles is our heritage and loved all over the world. It's like fudge for some or chocolate truffles for others., for us fudge, truffles and brigadeiros are completely different things. Tortuguita chocolate has a ritual: you have to eat the paws first, then the head and then the body. It's like a rule and eating it wrong is like committing a crime. 😅 The "sonho de valsa" (wich means "waltz dream") that you tried today, you tried in your last video but it was shaped like a bonbon. About Bis. The flavors "milk chocolate" and "white chocolate" are the traditional ones, black is more recent and Oreo is a collaboration.

The mashed potatoes with chicken is called "Escondidinho". It has this name because the chicken is "hidden" within the mashed potatoes. Guaraná is an amazonian plant, rich in caffeine and it has a very distinctive flavor, as you've noticed. The first pastry you tried is called Coxinha and it's one of the most popular snack we have. Funny thing is that while we have debated for a long time if the correct way to eat a coxinha is top to bottom or vice versa, you just decided to bite it sideways and called it a day lmao. The one you tried after the coxinhas is actually an arab dish, a Kibe. It isn't brazilian per se, despite being very popular over here. Same about the triangular pastry, the Esfiha. What did you just get in the mail? I'm guessing you ordered an Imbel knife to open the MRE with, lol. Nice vids man

Oh man, this time i had to sit down and write about the food in the video. That's an excellent take on Brazilian food and snacks, i grew up with everything on your selection. The first one you got i believe its what we call "Escondidinho de frango" or "little hidden chicken"(the translation is not exactly because the "inho" in portuguese means diminute, but not exactly little, it's more like an affectionate way of calling), its called hidden because usually it's presented like meat hidden under potato or cassava puree. The second one with intestines is called "dobradinha" or "little folds", usually made with white beans and it's delicious, but not every Brazilian likes it, we usually only eat this dish in places we are sure the cook carefully washes everything before cooking. Also, the pork is pretty common, usually a piglet, called "leitão", it's a very special dish. The the white rice with beans are the everyday Brazilian meal, always paired with some kind of protein and salad. For the pastries, you got classic snacks at children parties (when smaller) or a meal on the go (the size you got) found in many many places around brazil called "padarias" or "bakeries", also in "botecos" (open pubs also found everywhere in Brazil): - "Coxinha de frango com catupiry" and "coxinha" (shredded chicken with a potato, white flour or cassava dough, rolled in flour or breadcrumbs and deep fried, coxinha means "drumstick") - "Kibe frito" (grounded wheat with spices and grounded beef) and you were spot on. It came to Brazil from the immigrants from middle east. - The next one is "esfiha" (ground beef with spices covered in wheat dough then oven baked) also from middle east, they are sometimes baked open, like a mini pizza, but when closed they're always in a triangular shape. - Next you ate an "empada de camarão" (shrimp in a shortcrust pastry, baked in little metal cups) that is a Portuguese heritage. - Then you got "Rissoles" (meat or other filling in pastry, deep fried in half circle format), with french origins, also brought from Portugal. - Lastly you got "pastel", it's a Brazilian pastry created by japanese immigrants in brazil, inspired by chinese fried dumplings, it carries a lot of history and meaning as it's believed the "pastel" became popular during the second world war, where many japanese immigrants where persecuted as spies and disguised as Chinese immigrants to protect their families and business. *Note: the filling of each pastry can change a lot, no limits, including sweet versions of each one. After all of that, you got a "pudim de leite", "milk pudding/flan", there are many versions of this classic sweet, it can be made with condensed milk (very sweet), milk (more silky and less sweet) and even with bread and milk (little firmer, usually found in bakeries). Next is "salgadinho de bacon" "Bacon chips" made of cassava flour and fried, it's a cheap chip, smoked bacon flavoured, every kid in Brazil have eaten it a lot and it's supposed to be like fried pork skin. The cheetos is "requeijao" flavoured, it's a kind of creamy cheese in Brazil, very mild flavoured, (less than cheddar, more than cream cheese) so you were right when said its creamy, its intentional. The "Brigadeiro" or chocolate fudged is the most known Brazilian homemade sweet, made with cocoa, condensed milk and chocolate sprinkles, found in every Brazilian kids birthday party. The rest of the chocolates are very known and loved in Brazil, except the lemon skickers (also new to me). Many other curiosities were brought by my fellow Brazilians in the other comments, so thats all i can contribute to this video. Keep the good work bro!!

It's funny that you think the food tasted like Mexican food, cause most Brazilians don't like spicy or salty food. I wonder what they've been selling as Brazilian food in the Us lol. Maybe they adapt it to taste more Mexican, since Americans are more used to Mexican food. Btw Guarana is a fruit from the Amazon rainforest and it's very rare even in Brazil. The soda is very popular though. Also, "assado" just means "baked", so it's not the flavor lol. The flavor is usually written below that. That cheetos' flavor is cream cheese or something like that. It's a Brazilian type o cheese.

I also don't like Brigadeiro so much, although it's super mega popular in here, I think it's too much sweety, it has to be perfect for me to like it (with perfect I mean well balanced). The piece of pastry that looks like a turd it's called Quibe. I also don't like it so much. It’s great to see you trying our delicious food! A fun fact: at 13:14, that’s called a coxinha, and you can pronounce it in English like 'koh-SHEEN-yah.' It’s very popular here in Brazil, especially among police officers who often eat them quickly during breaks between patrols. In dangerous areas, some places also offer them to police officers as a way to get more protection. It’s become a Brazilian stereotype, similar to the donut for police officers in usa.

I'll say. That little shop can make any Brazilian feel 100% at home 😂 the only oddity is that they have to include selling pressure cookers, which you'd not find in most businesses but is vital to our cooking 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷 The mashed potatoes with chicken and fries is called Escondidinho, for which the best translation is Hidden-y, cuz the meat is hidden. The Guaraná, which is not Guaranha or Guaranya, is the fruit. Antarctica is the factory. That has to be breaded eggplant. Yes, Brazilians do eat breaded plantains. As for the delicacies: - Coxinha. Dough, chicken and cheese, deep fried. - Another coxinha, hold the cheese. - That one is a kibe - straight from the Arabian lands. Dough, spiced fried mince meat, deep fried. - Yet another coxinha. - Empada. From the oven. - Empadinha (because it's smaller than the empada). Both of these, and many variations from Latin American countries, come from the original Empanadas that CRUSADERS ate centuries ago. Real Christian Crusader food, we have it and most people don't even know they're eating Holy Crusades' food 😂 - Risoles. They're far more widespread than it seems, because each country will give them a new spin. - Pastel. That is the Brazilian variant of the Empanada. Having experienced the Hispanic variants, I guarantee to anyone: Empanada >>>>> Pastel. Mockingly but truthfully, we call them Pastel de Vento - WIND PASTRY - because it's so easy to buy one that is a big envelope of deep fried thin breading with a tiny bit of filling. And the snacks: - Pudim. That's a pudding, as God intended. - Bon Apetit! Good flavor for all moments! Skin - Yes, pork rind snacks made of flour. - That's our BEST Cheetos, the cheese one that absolutely stinks of foot 😂it's great to eat it near old people to bother them 🤣 - Brigadeiro. I do understand you not liking it. If you had gotten the BEIJINHO instead, which is white chocolate and coconut - it's like a Ferrero Rocher Raffaello, minus the nut and the price tag. - Tortuguita. The company, Arcor, is from Argentina. Very popular everywhere. - Waltz Dream. A mainstay of the common and affordable bombons for the general populace. The nut filling is heavenly, always. - Yes, we have key lime pie. And cheese cake. Never had a bad one. Oh, you bet that the multinational processed food companies have their fingers on political events 😂 their profits are more important than wars, ain't no warmonger hurting their profits! Bis. Guaranteed happiness. Quality wafers. Tasty chocolate.

It's always great to see a foreigner trying our everyday food. I really hope you enjoyed the experience! It is important to always remember that Brazil is a big place and our culture is often expressed in different culinary forms! And there are many of them! A tip for anyone who wants to visit Brazil is to always try the local cuisine, which is extremely varied, research the region you want to visit and find out what the typical dishes are there. After discovering the name of these dishes, look for the best restaurants for this type of cuisine and keep in mind that the one recommended for tourists doesn't always offer the best dish or the best experience... so it's always nice to have a friend from the region or someone you know who knows the place. What may seem complicated to some at first glance will surprise you when you realize how friendly and hospitable Brazilians are. For those who want to try our cuisine without having to travel, I highly suggest the guaraná (the last "a" is pronounced with an open sound, as in After), the coxinha with catupiry and the famous cheese bread. These are great options to start trying our cuisine! A big hug and see you soon guys!

I'll help with the snacks! Starts at 12:00 1 - Coxinha with Catupiry (Shredded chicken with fried catupiry cheese) 2 - Coxinha (shredded chicken) 3 - Kibe (Kibe is a typical Middle Eastern dish that consists of a dumpling made from bulgur or semolina, stuffed with meat, seasoned with herbs, which can be served raw, cooked or fried. It is a dish that was popularized at the time from the Ottoman Empire and is very popular even in Brazil! Next time, try it by a pool, with a few drops of lemon and a cold beer!) 4 - Cassava cake. (In this case, this savory dish was made using ground meat with sauce. I don't know, of course, if the sauce is curry, but I highly doubt it, as this savory dish is not normally served with this sauce.) 5 - Esfiha (Esfirra or esfiha is a small baked pie originating from Syria and Lebanon, and found in other countries in the Middle East, such as Jordan, Palestine and Iraq, as well as Brazil and Argentina, where it was taken by Syrian immigrants and Lebanese and has become extremely popular. It is a pasta that accepts many different types of fillings and sauces, due to its almost neutral and mild flavor. The chicken with corn is one of the most delicious in my humble opinion.) 6 - Shrimp Pie (Unlike Esfiha, the pie has a more robust and full-bodied dough and can also accept different fillings and flavors. There are several stores in Brazil that specialize in offering pies with this diversity of flavors and believe me, they are all very good. There are, like almost everywhere in Brazil, pies that seek to replicate the flavors of foreign recipes, such as Mexican pie (with chilli) or margherita pie (using the flavors of the famous Italian pizza).

mashed potatoes with small pieces of shredded chicken is called "escondidinho", it means something like "hidden" in english, and its name comes from the fact that the chicken is hidden under the mashed potatoes! the other thing was thin sliced deep fried eggplant, really delicious! the soda is from an amazonian fruit called "guarana", really common to drink here in Brazil! the snack that looks like a pear is called "coxinha", its a deep fried dumpling made with potatoes and chiken inside, a brazilian classic! kibe is also deep fried, it's grounded meat with a special flour and different spicies, it comes from arab culture and brazilians like it a lot! the other one was called "bolinho de carne", its deep fried and made wth ptatoes and grounded meat, almost the same as "coxinha" but with meat instead the other one is called "esfiha", it also comes from arab culture and the most popular ones are chicken (and corn) and grounded meat, this one is grilled instead of deep fried, so a good option for people that dont want an oily flavor the last one is called "empada", its also grilled and remembers a chicken pie "risole" is also deep fried mashed potatoes filled with grounded meat or shrimp, really similar to "coxinha" and "bolinho de carne", but with a different shape and spice "pastel" is also a traditional brazilian deep fried snack made with flour and filled with different things, the most sold here are usualy grounded meat, cheese and chicken for desserts, that white one is called "pudim", its mostly condensed milk and eggs, the other one is called "brigadeiro", it's cocoa powder with condensed milk
