It brings me to tears of happiness to see how much awareness of mental illness there is now in comparison to when I had my first “breakdown” in my teens. I had just been released from the hospital but no one ever in my family talked about the incident or my illness everyone just pretended it never happened and it was so scary and confusing to me.
