Best Buy is coming to install my Bravia 9 Mini LED in the morning. I am done, repeat done with LG and all the Burn in I have got. Admittedly, I watch a lot of news that have static images, but this is the 3rd LG in 9 years. They say Mini LED isn't supposed to get burn in or image retention so we shall find out with this new Bravia 9. Unforturnely the new 13.1 soundbar isn't available but should be about another week out plus I already got the matching Subwoofer for it.

Congrats! I was flip-flopping on the G3 and G4. I even bought both of them and then cancel the order once I saw the Bravia 9. 75 inch from Best Buy also. I am sure we will have no regrets and it will be an amazing TV.

@@KonaLife I got my Bravia 9 75” installed today…Oh my goodness! Right out of the box (Keep in mind I’ve been watching LG OLED Televisions (the last 3 of them but burn in killed all 3 of them around the 3 year point.) HOLY CRAP, this B9 is freaking awesome. The brightness has to be 3000-4000 nits . I have the Apple XDR Monitor that’s 1000 nits so the Television has to be at least 3 times brighter. The colors just pop off the screen, it’s so bright I’m playing around with the menu trying to tame this killer TV. The blacks are super black and very little to no blooming while watching KZbin TV. The remote is backlit and charges via USB-C. Yay same cord for remote, iPhone and a ton of other devices. Thank you European Union. I’m going back to tinkering with the extensive menu options to get it to suit me. This B9 I thought was going to blind me when I first powered it up. This is incredibly bright and the colors and contrast is off the chain. Great job Sony. The blacks are like INK.

The Bravia may not match the black levels of the OLED, but the color is more prevalent in the dark scenes on the Bravia. The OLED is so dark the color appears muted and the background details appear less present.

If anyone is ever considering LG or Hisense , just go to Rtings and pull up the 3 HDR images and compare them side-by-side to the same images of the Sony X90L, X93L, X95L, Bravia 7, A80K, and A95L. Zoom in and look at the yellow building roof or the text in the hallway or the bridge in the city. Check out the X90L vs the G4 - it's crazy. How can the G4 with the A11 processor still be so far behind the cheapest Sony TV?

They've all said LG's new a11 chip has closed a ton of ground on Sony's XR chip and most reviewers have put it ahead of the A95L aka the best TV of the last 8 months. I have a Hisense U8N and while it's great for an LCD TV, it doesn't come close to an OLED,. The G4 destroys it in all aspects besides peak brightness where the U8N is almost too bright lol.

KG, thank you for all of your work to present this. I am on the fence between upgrading to an 83" G4 and the B9 85". Coming from a Sony A9G 77". Cannot wait to see your comparisons between these two newer panels. Just from the little that I have seen so far, I am with you about the contrast and depth from OLED. I see the slight haze and washed out picture that shows up in those mid dark areas. The bright highlights are incredible on the B9! The color looks excellent as well. But like you stated, would one suffer from OLED withdrawal switching to LCD and miss that richness?

I'll go for B9 due to below reasons: 1. Which OLED has better speaker than B9? 2. Which OLED does NOT has burn in after one year of use? 3. Which OLED has more life span than Mini LED? 4. Which OLED show bright scene better than Mini LED? 5. You will pay 1000 bucks extra for that 5%(may be less,) extra blacks? Thats it. 6. Apart from that 100% true black in oleds (B9 is at 95% true blacks),can you tell what else an OLED has which is not in B9?

That was one of the reasons I decided to use the B4 because it would be closest to a lot of people’s current OLED TVs. B4 is more on the line of a C2 I’d say.

Your testing in a completely dark room. Perfect conditions for OLED. You also need test in room with light. Which is more realistic. This is where u will get different results

Definitely appreciate the OLED contrast in a lot of scenes but it sometimes crushed or made the character too dark. The brightness definitely won out in a lot of scenes too. Ot was a 50/50 for me which is impressive for an LCD against an OLED. G4 might win out as tv of the year but will be from a more controlled environment, as in a brighter everyday living room I think the B9 would be better. Personally I've tried both and settles on a q90r which I've enjoyed and run it at full brightness, still going strong and no fear of the OLED diminishing. Tempted with the s95d or g4 but have the feeling the B9 would still suit my needs best

If this is what the B9 has to offer against an entry level Oled I think my decision is made. I know it’s way more clarity and that’s awesome but that contrast is vastly noticeable. I think the G4 slaughters this tv when they are compared. If the price on the 75 inch is great for Black Friday I may be persuaded but it’s looking Bravia 8 for me. I want a Sony this year

The Rtings review of the Bravia 7 is very disappointing as its viewing angles and reflections are worse than the X93L which were also worse than the X95L but it’s more expensive. What is Sony thinking? Why not drop the X93L to a much cheaper price level or offer the X95L at 65 inch?

@@charlesmyers8150 Yeah but they are biggies. The bad viewing angles is huge. It's never going to match OLED or IPS but it can't be VA level as it is for a premium TV. The reflections are less of a biggie but still annoying. Then there's the blooming. Pull up the subtitle image of the B7, X95L, X93L and zoom in. The X95L is almost like a magical trick cause it's hard to tell apart from the G3, G4, and A95L which is why almost every reviewer owns one since it's larger than the A95L for the same price and practically identical. The X93L shows blooming below the subtitles. It's less pronounced than the Bravia 7 which shows blooming above the subtitles and has a bit of a washed look (more blooming). I know the contrast ration is better at 100,000 vs 70,000 but it's not applying it as well as the X93L at least in that scene with the subtitles.

I am looking for a bedroom mini led tv, preferably with Dolby vision, better than a Hisense. What do you think about the Samsung qn90c ads panel? It's $999 for 55in. at BEST BUY now. I am not convinced about ADS, but it gets ok reviews.

@@TheAntifluencer Well, it has to be lower because of the viewing angles and the grade that they give for that and response time. But the A95L over the B9, in Filmmaker mode are indistinguishable and in other modes, the B9 is at the same brightness with brightness set to 35 and Peak Luminance off - if you turn them on, the A95L can't stay with it. I honestly find it very hard to tell the X95L apart from the A95L in images - to all intents and purposes, it's an OLED with a lot more brightness in SDR.

We need comparison to G4. Here B9 wins in brightness - very noticeable and loses slightly in contrast and 3D effect, though that’s not always obvious. Here I would choose Bravia over C4. On the other hand G4 with new processing is adding to 3D effect and with help of bigger brightness and overall APL looks much better than C4. That comparison will be useful to many split between those two

Much appreciate you videos Unfortunately Sony's local dimming was set to "Medium " not "High " picture mode "Standard" not "Professional" and all enhanced modes were On instead of Off causing over brightness of images and difficult for comparison with other Oled Tv so my advice is to not critical judge this tv based on this video !

Great stream KG. You're doing a great job, but is it correct you compared the B9 with the LG B4 in the first part? The B4 is a superdim TV. Will you compare the B9 VS the G4 anytime soon? The G4 is superior next to the B4. You showed the C4 later in the stream, but the G4 can get 500 nits brighter in some instances in game mode than the C4.

That comparison video is in the works yes G4 vs Bravia 9 is on the way, the reason I showed the B4 was because I wanted to show that even the most entry level OLED TV has its pure advantages over a $3200 mini led TV there are still limitations to the technology and of course in other areas the B4 did struggle to match the Bravia 9 it wasn’t intended to be fair, I thought it be a good way to talk about areas where the Bravia 9 struggled to give people pros and cons, people have also asked me how what a CX upgrade or C1 upgrade to a Bravia 9 would look like so this helped that to as the B4 is similar to those. Overall I felt good about the way the stream went I do feel like the main goal was accomplished.

no, b4 is like a c1 or cx with an old and classic woled panel, c2 like a g1, or a g2 without heatsink because have a evo panel. and maybe a bit better like g1 because c2 its a "ex evo" (2022 or wbe, second evo) when g1 have a "evo" (2021 or wbc, first evo). only c2 42" have wbc panels.

i got an old Samsung 6 series 55 inch from 2016, its dying so after going into stores i saw the samsung s92D and after watching just the LG C4 not the G4 cause they didnt have it in demo i was like wow the Difference in Brightness and punchyness and Dept was just slapping my in the face... the were not calibrated but i was like wow if the C4 looks amazing i cant imagine the difference with the G4.so i decided to go for the same size as what i had before the 55 inch.. pulled the trigger with a 400$ off on sales. i just received it today hopefully its gonna wow me...unfortunatly i couldnt see any other samsung S95D or S900D which im told are something else... but without being able to see for myself anything more i had to settle for what i could see. besides the upgrade from a low tier Samsung from 2016 got to be a massive upgrade. ive never had an oled so yeah i must admit pure black no greys no blooming is just something nice to have, i also didnt have HDR back then so that also a nice feature to have and moving from a 60hz tv to 144hz wow that should be something on my PS5. hope i made the right choice... also 5 year warranty was really a compelling argument to get this tv.

I'm confused - in gaming the B4 (the mystery OLED) looks better but at 1:09:19 and 1:10:44 and other scenes from Speirs and Munsel its clear the B9 is brighter overall which means that the B9 has the horsepower to leave the Oled in the dust but is not doing so. And with brightness set to max, it should be doing so. According to Rtings, the LG B3 has 2% windows of 550 nits so even if the new model B4 can hit 600 nits, it's barely brighter than entry-level iPads (500 nits) and that's in tiny highlights - if the image calls for high APL, even the iPad will smoke the B4. It shouldn't be able to compete with the B9 in highlights. The yellow neon in Jedi Survivor is pretty impressive on the LG B4 but clearly the Sony B9 is at a tiny fraction of its brightness if the B4 looks as bright, if not brighter. There's something way off in this Sony B9's processing if the LG B4 is competing with it beyond OLED torture tests. From dawn to dusk, the OLED B4 should struggle next to the Sony B9 with anything that has the slightest brightness in it. We should be seeing what we see in the Speirs and Munsel in almost all images and I would love to see SDR sports like Tennis, Soccer, and F1.

Actually, check out the yellow neon highlight in Jedi Survivor at 23:15 to 23:17 as Cal approaches it. If you play it in slow motion on a LED or OLED with very high APL like a phone, you can see that they are both equally bright from afar (which makes little sense) but as you get closer and go by it, the Sony B9 is multiple times brighter but it's too quick to notice. So it's able to make it brighter if it occupies a big chunk of the screen but if it's doesn't, the Sony B9 sinks into B4 brightness territory. It's still impressive that it's as bright as an OLED but the B4 isn't really pushing 1,500 nits there.

Putting a B4 vs Bravia 9 was definitely unfair, I never said this comparison was fair there were times where the B4 was better I was trying to show people that it doesn’t matter what OLED your coming from there is going to be large trade offs in pure contrast. I thought the B4 would be perfect to show since it is very similar to past WOLED TVs that people own currently that they are looking to upgrade.

Nice but the camera settings impact how each TV will look the brighter the picture on one will make the other look darker, the only way to see them is in your own home. I always wonder on these a/b reviews why my TV can show them seen as brightest for the newest and greatest TV for this year, if my TV could not get that bright it could not reproduce say how bright the G4 shows. Go figure, In the end, specs mean little is what our eyes perceive. On top of that how much of content watched is even pursuing how good these TV our even in that 3 years, the TV are better than the content shown, unless you are using blu-ray and 4K DVD's. Streaming is all over the place in quality.

For those who aren’t aware, the B4 & C4 65 inch are on sale for the same price at $2300 (Best Buy) right now. They are exactly $1000 less than the Bravia 9. The G4 and A95L are the same price as Bravia 9 at $3299. At these prices, my personal choice wouldn’t be the B9. When it loses in many scenes compared to a tv $1000 less, that’s an issue. I would either buy G4 or save $1000 and get a C4 right now if I was buying a new tv. The A95L is a strong contender but I slightly prefer the more natural whites and colors of a woled. The G4 just seems perfect with the added brightness of MLA.

Dang I didn't think I could clearly see how OLED is better on video but I instantly knew that the Left was the Bravia tv in the first scene since it lacked so much depth and contrast and definition from that pixel level control OLED has
