Sandy may be navigating the “Sirocco” mega yacht again, but she brings a new level of leadership in season four. Overall I think Captain Sandy is a good Captain, but also not immune to making a odd wrong decision by maybe misjudging a situation of a stew etc. But she appears to otherwise mostly give a person the benefit of doubt and often more than one chance to improve. I like her a lot. I often regret missing out on a opportunity to work on a yacht years ago when I was young. I chose another course of work at the time. Looking back I regret it.

I just love Captain Sandy. She deals calmly with problems and takes the time to teach her crew. She's strict, but kind. The fact she tells them she's disappointed works a lot more than yelling at them or take them down. She allows them to make mistakes and learn from it, which is awesome.

She HAD to fire Hannah. The maritime laws are very specific and strict regarding drugs. You have multiple peoples lives in your hands as the captain and if she didn’t fire Hannah, she faced the possible end to her own career as a captain. She did the right thing and to say any different is uneducated. I changed the word ignorant to uneducated to be less rude, but the fact remains that Captain Sandy was right. Malia did what she was legally supposed to do as well. If you have cameras roaming around a yacht for weeks at a time and you see something illegal happening, that will at least cost a captain their job, and possibly lose a lot of money from having to shut down the vessel due to illegal actions of a crew member, wrecking the whole charter or even the season. I think that firing a crew member for not disclosing prescription drugs is a very wise decision. Yes, it sucks. But it’s a lot better than what could’ve been the alternative outcome.

I love each of the Capts and all 3 have their merits and all 3 are clearly experienced and more than capable at their job. Capt Lee reminds me of a seasoned Colonel that takes it all in and says very little but what he does say is salient and to the point - love him! Capt Sandy is a woman surviving in a male dominated world without resorting to being macho. Excellent manager but needs to ease off a little on the fire fighting in regards to her staff - still not wrong, just different styles and each achieve the goal. Capt Glenn fascinates me! Not everyone knows what an anxiety attack looks like. So it's understandable that Sandy asked if everyone ate the same thing. Hannah should have been more forthcoming with her medical issues so Sandy would have known. Hannah probably wouldn't have been fired but as things were going Hannah was doing what she wanted regardless of what she was supposed to be doing.
