Every time I watch and hear the Tachibana Senior High School band perform it brings a smile to my face. I love these kids and their dedication to entertain and play on key. They are a rarity in our world and deserve to be cherished like the National Treasure that they are. Thank you all for your amazing performances.

I wonder how many students Kyoto has trained over the years, Japan must be overflowing with musical talent. I am amazed at how they constantly achieve such high standards. Well done and always a pleasure to hear them.

They practice several hours a day.... only have 3 days in the year that they do not practice. That's why they're awesome... and, committed!!

The school is over a hundred years old but the band was first established in 1962. Each year let's assume around thirty students graduate and thirty take their place so that makes about 1900 students trained over the years? To think the fact that all the new students were trained only by the second and third years students make this band even more amazing with no drop of its high standards.

This is the greatest high school band on the planet. People have NO IDEA how much work this takes. In the US, everything else would be more important - sports practice, part time job, weekend at the cabin, and then they wonder why the bands look and sound the way they do. These kids and their parents are exceptional!

The Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band practices before and after school, and on both weekend days, and in the summer, for a total of 360 of 365 days of the year.

@@star-army This group makes me cry. I taught school music for eight years and had a belly full. Everyone wants the band to march on Memorial Day, but parents have 'other priorities.' My students wanted to march, but I could no longer take the dozens of whiney excuse phone calls. The very sad thing is that this kind of band could exist in every town in America, but football, McDonalds jobs, family cabins, and 'I'm tired of picking up my kid after school' take precedence here.

Hopefully the U.S. high school bands will learn something from them when Kyoto Tachibana SHS participates in the upcoming Rose Parade in Pasadena on January 1st, 2025. Many people in Japan says that whenever a company finds out a job applicant was once a Kyoto Tachibana SHS band member, they would get hired immediately due to their hard-working reputations.

It always amazes me how high the level of this band is. You have to keep in mind that the group changes every year part of the band finishes school and is replaced by new kids and still they keep the same super high level. Also from what I have seen on the web these kids do this all on their own!

The students get all the credit. Each year they select what music to play and then design all the choreography by themselves to match with no adult teachers or coaches involved. The band is actually just an after-school activity club managed only by the students. An amazing group of teenagers.

They are amazing. I was in High School Band over 50 years ago, we were not as good marching band as this. I did play saxophone so loved that part a lot.

Tacibana takes High Quality Marching band performance and execution and up's the level x10. The complete dedication and mastering by each member is both Staggering and Wonderful. It's easy to see why this HS band is absolutely World Renowned. The amount of artistry that this school graduates is Mind Boggling.

So delightful to see these young girls perform. The two Saxaphone players were amazing because their instruments were so large. I hope these girls really enjoy what they do because it takes a huge amount of work to get to this level. Hope they're allowed to be teens.

The members of this band is very dedicated and hard working. They used to practice almost daily like 360 days per year and getting only 5 days off in all three years of high school. In recent years that schedule has been cutdown a bit but it's still significant. The members all volunteered for this since the band is really an afternoon school activity club and being managed by the students themselves with no adults overseeing them. Each year the students also select the music to play and then design all the choreography to match for parades and stage shows. An amazing group of teens.

There is a choreography behind this, a sequence of different movements and paces, this requires hours and hours of study and practice. They also need a good memory to do this, remembering when to do what. Incredible for such young girls. All amateurs! And at the same time they must produce this perfect music. I am deeply impressed. Addendum: this was a joy to watch!!!

these students go into school around 6.30 am and undertake choreography, and drill movements for about 2 hours, then go to classes, then more music practice after school for x? hours, and this is five days week ! plus home work, and then go to concerts and lead marchers through out Japan, now thats what I call dedication

It’s good to see and hear you all again. The sound seems to be better than ever - perhaps a little less shrill with the high woodwind - though I’m not sure whether that is due to the arrangements or the recording technology. Please come to visit us in the UK sometime 🇬🇧.

What continues to amaze me is that after the end of a pretty strenuous show, they *finish* with "Sing Sing Sing" which has the most energetic dancing of all. They are in very good shape.

These students train like Olympic athletes - about 35 hours all seven days per week year-round even when school is not in session. Each year they only get five days off.

WOW, WOW, WOW! I have been following these amazingly talented young musicians for a few years, and I think this may be my favorite performance to date! I agree with every comment. Fantastic sound, no sheet music, choreographed, big smiles and waves! If Kyoto Tachibana SHS Band plays a return date in the US, as they did at the Rose Parade and Disneyland, I'm going!!!!
