Basically you don’t want one row of trees to shade a different row of trees. NY state is almost 45 degrees latitude. Assuming the rows run east-west, at that latitude, an 11 foot high tree also casts an 11 wide shadow, which happens to be a nice row width to drive a tractor down.

NASIR MEHMOOD No. There are no highly dwarfing rootstocks available for prunus species. Current studies show various numbers of “v” based systems work best (quad-v, hex-v).
