I just bought mop n glo tonight and made 4 of the same ornaments. I bought grinch faces on Amazon to apply. But next time I’ll make them with my Silhouette Cameo 4. So many more possibilities. Thank you for your tutorial. Hobby Lobby was out of super fine glitter so I bought lime that is round.

Just an FYI, Mop-N-Glow and any other floor cleaner/wax will eventually fail and the glitter will fall to the bottom of the ornament. Polycrylic is what you need to use. Don't produce a sub-par product just to save a few pennies.

Mayhem Bling I have to concur. I've tried Mod Podge (thinned to pouring consistency with information I found online last year when I first tried this), Elmer's Glue-All thinned slightly with water to workable consistency, and finally tried the Minwax Polycrylic this week. As much as I really, REALLY wanna steer clear of any toxic items in my world for sundry reasons (personal health failure & now over-burdened liver, not contributing to manufacture of more environmental toxins, not contributing more to environmental or home toxin burden, safety for myself & others who enter my home or buy items I make, etc), I have not found anything that works near as well as the Polycrylic. Both the Mod Podge & Glue-All dry cloudy, so the glitter is dulled, neither provides the complete coverage & even coverage that Polycrylic did--there are spots I could not get to cover no matter what!--and both are glitter hogs. I used far less glitter with much more desirable effect in the Polycrylic bulb than the others. 😐 I know there's little VOC release once the bulbs are closed, but it's still frustrating that the only decent solution I've found for creating really pretty, sparkly bulbs with the glitter contained on the inside (so it doesn't end up in ALL the spaces & on literally everything as the bulbs shed--with years of experience as as dance performer, I can assure you that glitter gets literally E V E R Y W H E R E. Wear something with glitter and when you go to the bathroom you'll see just how far it travels! 😨😨😨) comes with a "reproductive danger" toxin warning! 😔 I looked online for "green" alternatives to Polycrylic, and they are even more expensive. I'm willing to give 'em a go, but that will have to wait until next year since what I've found is not in stores locally and I'd have to order & wait to have it shipped, yada yada. So for now I'll use the Polycrylic with a mask & gloves, under a ventilation system (my roommate has an airbrush set-up in the basement, so I can use that for ventilation) away from the main living area for best protection I can create for myself & the other hoomans & kitty in the house. Maybe I'll also figure out a way to better seal the ornament tops so no VOCs are seeping out. Hmm...*strokes imaginary beard in contemplation* I'll figure out something... As for other methods beside what I've mentioned, I didn't bring them up because I did my digging before I tried anything, and many people reported that hair spray doesn't hold up (not a surprise--it's meant to be a temporary hold for hair & other things, not permanent) & the glitter falls off every time the bulbs or whatever item get bumped or moved, and the floor polishes such as Pledge or Mop & Glow yellow over time and/or break down, so the glitter releases & falls. I have not tried Glitter It liquid glue because I didn't know about it until a few days ago, and it is quite expensive, too (& not so multi-use like the glues & sealant) so I'll use the Polycrylic for now and maybe I'll trial Glitter It &/or "clean"/green wood sealant (Polycrylic alternatives) next year. If I do, perhaps I'll get brave enough to make & post a review video. 😉 If you find any alternatives to the Polycrylic that have good results and lasting quality, please do share! ☺ Thank you for this tutorial, though! Could you share where I can find the pattern you used? I don't have a Cricut or other fancy device, so I'll be painting or drawing the face on, but I would like the pattern to use as a guide! Thanks for any help with that! 😊

If you pull the hanger ends up into the cap, place the cap on ornament then push hanger down it helps avoid scratching the neck of the ornament. Hope that makes sense :)

If you take scissors and cut slits thru the transfer tape all around, avoiding cutting in too deep and avoiding the image, BEFORE you position the image on the ornament, you will have an easier time. It will lay flat and overlay of tape will only be on itself and not the image.

this video was bad because a lot of it was not even in frame. What is application tape? What are you using. I have never made this before so more explanation of what you are using would be helpful The ornaments are adorable. I would like to do this. Also, what do you mean when you say black vinyl? Thanks
@MayhemBling
@MayhemBling 4 жыл бұрын
Louise I apologize for the bad camera angle. I actually did another tutorial on how to make these ornaments if you would like to watch it it will be more helpful. When I mention application tape, that is the transfer tape that you use to transfer the adhesive vinyl from it's carrier sheet onto the ornament. And when I refer to black vinyl I am talking about just black adhesive vinyl. Do you have a cutting machine such as a Cricut or Silhouette Cameo? That is what I used to cut the pieces for the face. I hope I have answered your questions! Again...I apologize for the angle of the camera but I would appreciate it if you would watch my other Grinch ornament video...it may explain it for you. Thank you for your feedback!
