Fantastic advice and tutorial Alan. Brilliantly explained in plain English. Great tips about getting the ground bait to the bottom, and microwaving and rolling the slices. Great logic in using pencil floats, and the shotting patterns, line diameter, hook types ect. Please keep these tutorials coming thick and fast. Learning from a master, has got to be the best way of improving my fishing.

The Drennan brass punches. Use mine all the time. So easy to use, and bring fabulous results. Great tip about the gravel. I love fishing the punch for roach, it's a great method for bagging on roach. I've even had bream on the punch, when fishing for roach.

Why do you never hear the other anglers giving this legend the acclaim he so rightly deserves?

I have tbh. I heard Tommy Pickering, John Arthur, Nick Speed giving praise to Alan.

@@danielpardoe2554it was interesting Tommy didn't put him in his best ever England team, but said he was the best angler he knew. Would love to know why, maybe an oversight?

Really impressed with this video. Even though its from a tackle brand, there was no pushing of buy this or buy that. Very good.

Blinmey down here in the softy south we have to pay around £8 for a day ticket bon the canal, £3 for a days fishing, Great. Thanks Alan at least the methods are roughly the same.

Good one, Alan. I like the idea of mixing gravel with the bread. I already have some mineral feed for pigeons that is like fine gravel and will try it next time although I suppose garden centres sell potting gravel that will do as well.

Where along the canal do the roach go in the warmer months? I get plagued by little perch along that stretch during summer

Do you drop a hook size when fishing the 3ml punch or carry on using the 18 hook?

Don't mention them squats or pinky just caster hemp O! And punch LOL don't do to let two much out. Not knocking this angling legend but the crafty way of avoiding the little wigglers it's like not telling newbies about red worm for skimmers
