5:22 Sick 9 ball shot, but is it me, or did that ball roll off both ways along the rail lol

Each Valley table comes complete with a unique set of quirks and flaws. Gotta love em ;)

Just keeping it real is good for me. Is there a think called player's choice in your rules. It's when a ball is pocketed that was not called. It ends the shooters turn, but the player coming to the table has the option to give it back to the shooter if they don't like the table. Love that rule, it the best / worst outcome, depending on the table and who you are shooting.

Yes, we play that rule in this league. I also really like it. Keeps the game tighter and more intentional than 9-ball.

4:52 - bank the ball 2 rails to leave the 9 on the bottom rail next to the 10, and try and keep the cue ball on the top rail. - typed before I saw the shot, which was a great shot btw

Thanks! I do need to work on those 2-rail banks. They come up all the time and I rarely consider them.

@2:35 I was immediately thinking outside 2 rails to the middle of the table, but it looks like no spin? @3:55 This is a tough shot because speed will absolutely change cue ball trajectory into the 8/9. This is a shot that I do not practice enough. Really good attempt tho. @5:25 Did I see a favorable table roll to the right? Great shot tho!!! @7:20 Good decision to use the rail and bounce off along the shot line. @7:40 I have seen this shot many times for myself. You seem to have just a few more degrees of angle than desired, and you have to pinch this easier than expected to hold, which can decrease your accuracy of shot and you do not want to bump the 5, and accuracy of draw. I have made this same mistake many times. We are so used to the outside draw. I think the inside draw is a shot that not a lot of players practice, which would have been very useful here. @9:15 My initial thought was the 2 railer, but probably equally as difficult as the 1 railer. @11:05 He should have played a stop shot or a pinch draw on the 3. He had the correct angled to just drift up-table off the 4 for a straight shot on the 5. @13:37 🤣🤣🤣 Looking forward to match 3 👍👍👍

2:35 - a little outside would have helped me avoid the 8. I was not playing for the bump, but it ended up working out! 3:55 - felt pretty good about this outcome, since as you mention there's so much to control for with this type of breakout. 7:20 - this was a game-changer for me. 7:40 - inside draw is funky, and I could certainly use more time practicing it. Once it's in your repertoire, it's powerful. 9:15 - not sure I thought about the 2-rail kick. Looks like it was playable based on the camera angle.

I'm loving these BCA tournament videos for a shorter format. I'm not sure it's a format that really gives both players an equal chance tho. Which is why the pro's do races to 9 or more to give both players a chance to 'show their stuff'.

Glad you're enjoying them! I was just talking to someone about this format. There are pros and cons, for sure. I like that you get to play against multiple opponents in one night; it keeps things fresh. On the flip side, it does play into what you mentioned in the sense that I don't feel like each player really gets to test themselves against each other. On any given night, especially with bad luck/break and runs/safety play, one player can just wash out the other and they won't have much of a chance to play through it. In general, I do prefer longer races. I am especially curious about how Fargo is impacted by the shorter races, if at all.

MAJOR difference between Valley and Diamond tables. I only play two places that still have Valley tables vs. Diamonds. One of them is my home bar. Our table gets a lot of grief from other teams and I always tell them to quit picking on our "fancy eatin' table"... not kidding, the bar owner puts a piece of plywood over it for potlucks during football games and such, lol. I finally got the owner to put new rails and cloth on a few months ago but she wouldn't pop for Simonis tournament, (even though our team was willing to pay for it), and went with the Valley teflon. It's already a mess. Many people on my teams struggle on the Diamond tables with the faster cloth and deeper shelf pockets, but other teams also struggle with our slower cloth and not as active rails. I just chalk it up to you play the hand you're dealt, table conditions typically are always different from one to the next.

Massive difference. I feel spoiled by the great conditions at Masters where we only play on Diamonds. It's great prep for Vegas. There is something deeply satisfying about learning to play on tough tables and good conditions - brings confidence. There's a lot of sloppy stuff we can get away with on Valleys. I just heard a story last night about a team that offered to buy Simonis for a table here in town after their Valley got dumped on by a broken swamp cooler, and the owner said no. I just can't understand that! Agreed on playing with the hand you're dealt - if anything those crummy conditions encourage me to let my stroke out and play a little bigger than I normally would, which can be a good thing.

@@OnTheSnap Agreed on all points. I purposely ordered the Diamond Pro-Am table for my home with Pro-Cut pockets to be better prepared for competition. That little 1/4 inch can oft times screw with me mentally... but I need that too.

@@Bridog217 Love that. My tech is coming to tighten up the home table pockets soon. Send thoughts and prayers for my mental health 😅

That kick on the 3, during the second game, I would have went 2 rails and you have potentially put it in the side

Good call. It looks so playable from the camera angle. I don't remember if I considered the 2-railer or not...but definitely should have!
