Aimed at the intermediate blues guitarist, this book gives you the tools to escape the pentatonic purgatory that so many blues guitar students get stuck in.

You’ll Learn How To…
✅ Outline and target blues chord changes
✅ Phrase with an authentic blues time-feel
✅ Control tension and release musically and tastefully utilise triads, arpeggios and scales beyond the pentatonic
✅ Chromatically Colour your lines like Stevie Ray Vaughan and use diminished scales like Robben Ford
✅ Plus lots, lots More!
Featuring an audio and video demonstration of every example, you’ll be able to see and hear exactly how the concepts, licks and solos are played.
Bridging the gap between the tabs and the music itself, Ross demonstrates all the material, allowing you to go beyond the notes and study the technique and articulation.
This Book Includes…
✅ Detailed explanations and examples of sophisticated blues soloing concepts.
✅ Licks, solo studies and practice etudes for you to learn and internalise

Ross, firstly thanks all the great work! I have bought almost everything you put out so far, including the book. With that said, if you dont mind, could I possibly make a suggestion? Would you consider adding a loop (repeat) and a half time button to the video examples? Next to the volume, casting, CC, settings etc? The first would eliminate the need to move from the guitar to the computer at every go and the second would make it heaps simpler to go half tempo as we wouldnt need going into setting to change the video speed. We could hear it a couple of times slow then go back to the original speed. If further fine tuning is neded (going to 25% or 75%) we could just use the settings as currently available. This is far from a deal breaker, it may even be a small thing, though the amazing slowdowner interface really nailed the concept of practing in front of a computer without going back and fourth. I could be wrong but I believe it would make the interface a lot more use friendly. Cheers mate! 🤜🤛

@@TimWiechers-qg9cv You could do that but if you weren't mixing in major 3rd's of those chords into the minor pentatonics for D and E, it would sound quite amatuer-ish in my opinion. Personally I like to avoid this type of approach.

The 12 bar blues progression is perfection. A great inventor, whose name escapes me at the moment, said simplicity is the source of genius. The trick is to get from point to point without appearing to be stumbling blindly down the path. Love your lessons and need them desperately. I'm sick to death of taking 3 lefts to go right. Think about that statement for a few minutes, 3 lefts equals going right. Teach on my brother. From an old wannabe guitar player.

I’m so glad that concept is circulating! 1-2-b3/3-4-b5-5-6-b7 (Mixolydian + the Blues scale) are the most useable notes over a Dominant 7 chord (1-3-5-b7). Even the remaining 3 notes of b2/b6/7 can be used in chromatic lines.

You just taught in an hour, what it taught ne over 20 years to learn. I hope people understand how good of a lesson this is. For me, over the years I learned the pentatonic in all positions and then as I played over tracks, I found all the filler notes to add in. Never knew much music theory just knew that those extra notes sounded good so they started becoming a regular part of my impression.

Thank you for this, and I'm hoping your book is even more helpful, because I'm going to go grab it right now. Cheers!

Hi Ross, I am enjoying this master class so much. I am a professional vocalist and I have been fronting bands for 40 years I’m 69 years old and Have been playing guitar for five years. I’ve played with so many guitarists in the past that didn’t know how to do anything but copy things note for note, had no clue about Theory or how to improvise. Early on in my journey, I instinctively knew that it was important to do things like learn some theory, learn where every note on the entire fretboard was, and learn how to play arpeggio’s and triads, especially dom seven arpeggios, because I am mostly into the blues. I previously taught my self to play through 12 bar, blues Progressions with Dom seven cords using just dom 7 arpeggios. This lesson of yours is a perfect continuation of that. I just wanted to thank you for the great master class. It is helping me tremendously….Todd B……ps. How would you handle the quick change 12 bar blues?

Hey Ross ! Rob here as a newcomer. That opening blues track was about as sweet as they come. No shortage of notes which makes it even more amazing as to how sweet it sounded. Not one wasted note throughout ! ! My guitar playing career is literally a graveyard of past teachers with pretty much all of them knowing how to play, but not knowing how to break it down in to smaller understandable AND useful chops.

Well done Ross, I'm not even a guitarist, my background is in Jazz saxophone. For a very long time now I thought or was taught that in order to play any blues you must first of all memorise a ton of blues scales, but they didn't work for me. I always loved blues guitar but I postponed it because I couldn't find anyone who explained it to me the way you do in this video. It's so well explained and surely I'm motivated to buy your blues book/s. Thanks.

Ross I'have bought this book. Your explanation is perfect and it's exactly what I was looking for. It's a complete manual to understand how to improvise on a blues and even if it contains many elements that I already have under my fingers (dominant arpeggios and scales, use of sixths, major thirds, etc..) I admit that like many people I don't have these elements with a complete and clear order. I think that your book is honestly the best buy on the market!! I met Matt Schofield when he was 24 years old in Maidstone and he really impressed me. The same goes for Ross, he has really captured my attention. I have been playing blues for over 25 years and never really thought about playing minor or major pentatonic scales; I played what sounded good to my ear. This is great Ross!! I almost feel guilty to pay so little for it!😁 I felt frustrated with all the money notes I was leaving on the table using the pentatonic/Blues scale. Ross has addressed this missing link in a clear, concise, professional manor and, I understand this may not be for everyone but for me, it is exactly what I was looking for and the timing of this couldn't be any better! Looking forward to put it all into practice, starting tonight! Thanks Ross! Keep up the good work, Im a fan!

Echo everyone of these comments, this video is amazing! Love the graphics to follow along and free tab to practice the concept - so good. I also feel like I have to buy this book!

I can't believe this. I've been struggling to play blues with the minor pentatonic since high school. This lesson is incredible! I'm grabbing your book. Thank you Ross!
