This one poor guy whose WIP I read and gave feedback for took the "Show Don't Tell" rule SO literally... In his first chapter, he went through this excessively detailed description of this office scene, complete with one character passing a plaque on the wall with the name of the company, and he had the characters talk about their jobs at the company and how long they'd been working there, etc. I told him, dude... you could cut ALL of this and just say "Jim worked at Company Inc. for the past seven years, and he was miserable there." But the guy WOULD NOT believe me lol. He kept complaining about how much his opening pages weren't working but gosh darn it don't worry, he'll figure out SOMETHING...!
