If I'm not mistaken that's a 2 5 1 with a tritone sub on the 5.

@@deadfisher0000This is not actually a tritone sub as the chord is major not dominant. Tritone substitutions are always dominant. Theoretically, this is more like modal interchange borrowing the b7 major from the relative major’s mixolydian scale. That’s kind of a heady way to think about it tho, just think b2 major. Glasper does this type of stuff all the time

Love the drum notation at the beginning !!! And this harmony … I always viewed flat 2 major 7 as a strong position in a cadence not a weak one before the “one chord “ here D minor or D major .

I just want a video game level where this is the background music and as you get closer to the goal of that level, this progression happens. Pushing you forward in March to the final conflict emotionally, but also because you become engrossed in hearing how the music will evolve next.

Right before Covid too. What a beautiful time in the world. Anyways, that music changed me and I really miss the renaissance of art happening in NYC at that time. Hopefully it comes back soon.

You mean Ab? It'll strongly resolve to F and Bb as well, and Thom Yorke might take it to G or C EbΔ7 to Dm is from the phrygian mode

No, he means end the cadence could end on A7 resolving back to the Dmin. Puts a nice cap on the progression to keep if from perpetually descending.
