I swear to god; making the phone black and white seriously makes a huge difference; all the sudden you find yourself unlocking it & then remembering that there is nothing to do here. So then closing it back up & keeping on going along with your day.. this seems to be life-changing. Let's hope this effect doesn't wear off. I have already found myself wanting to turn the effect off, because "I would want to see this in color"; but once you realize that that urge is exactly what you are trying to fight against it actually seems a little scary..

Currently learning meditation I use a running app Doing yoga (exercises + Meditation) Learning a language Learning how to journal Learning more about how to explore my inner being. Learning how to be present by reading "The Power Of Now". I am trying not to lose track and be more consistent I am dieting I am a minimalist, (I don't have much material needs) I suffer from anxiety and depression. I am trying to cut down things while not feeling burned out. I am a very work oriented person and sometimes, if I don't connect with people, I think it's totally fine for me, as long as I am doing something that I am interested in. This feels so weird. The only difference that we have is that I am Asian I am in the LGBT community I am currently not making videos but planning to after I move to Germany I don't have the level of confidence or experience that you have. I still procrastinate. I had a mentor who had guided me. I am interested in reincarnation and the book "Seth speaks"

This is really cool, as a computer science major I wrote a short essay about digital well being and our negative relationship with technology. I found some research that actually shows that phones reduce our attention spans, so we can't really concentrate on one task as easily and engage in deep learning. We also read differently than we used to, in more of an "F" pattern where we scan for useful information in reading instead of losing ourselves in the material.

Good tips. I'm currently doing 40 days without my phone until easter. At the beginning, it was difficult to organize myself when I wanted to meet up with friends (writing emails with the computer was the solution - as it is not that natural to us than WhatsApp, you use it only for the really necessary parts of the conversation) and also when I was heading for an unknown place (figuring it out before going and/or asking real people on the street than google maps). But it really helped me to see that I don't need a phone for my daily life: in the first week, there was this urge to be connected, to be looking at the phone screen just to see if I've got any messages or notifications. This urge has completely disappeared. It makes me conscious of how I'm spending my time and that I want to spend it doing things where I see more meaning to it

I delete the apps off my phone before bed, and then re-download, delete mid-day. That's become like its own addiction, as well as placing the apps in different folders, changing the order of the screens, etc. Because although I "should" have self-control, like you said, it's practically muscle memory to just go to my phone, swipe over, open app. It's 100% an addiction!

I'd also recommend to control all of the notifications that comes to your phone. I turned off all the sounds, badges, messages on lock screen and banners from social media apps. So now it's me to decide when I want to chat, when I want to be lazy and entertain myself. Also I’d recommend to turn off ALL the notifications that you don’t ever need. By doing so you kill all the distractions that your phone can bring to you. Most of the time I found myself picking up my smartphone every time I get message or any other unnecessary notification from the app I rarely use. So if you also raise your phone way more often than you want to, try to manage your notifications

I've loved this series and hope to see more down the road. I've been drastically limiting my social media usage for months and it's been an incredibly beneficial experience. I wasn't aware of the greyscale feature of my phone and I'll be leaving that on permanently so keep me from using my phone. I hate how easy it is to lose hours at a time doing nothing of any value and I've been looking for ways to be more productive. This is great!
Deleted all my social media apps from my phone, set timers using the "screen time" feature built into iPhone, and downloaded the Freedom app (which blocks time waster websites on the safari app for whatever time frame you set it to). When I'm on my computer (which is where a decent amount of my KZbin time wasting happens), I use the Cold Turkey App that I recently downloaded (which does the same thing as the Freedom app on my phone, but it's completely permanent for the time frame (so once you set the timer for an allotted time, you can't get around it until it's over). I might try rearranging the order of apps on my phone as well...that's a good idea.

Yeah! Very nice solution but what I do is in my phone (samsung) Full day I've "on" the dark mode. And also I use dim or non stimulated theme so, it really help me from damaging my eye from bright screen. I use bedtime setting which available in my phone I set from10 pm to 5am it turn my phone into black and white mode and "on" the "don't disturb" mode(as you mentioned in your video). And there is one more setting my phone called "eye comfort shield" I've set the timer of this setting from 7 pm to 7am as we all know bright light is big lead cause to damage our eye and it named as light pollution. Apart from this I use and install only those apps which very helpful as a degree student I'm very super conscious about the apps what I'm using.. and puts the apps in folder with respect categories so it creates less distraction. So these is the way I use to keep myself less distract and healthy physically and mentally. Hope this idea will help someone 🙏🏻😊

I have done the same thing with my desktop. I put everything which can distract me in a folder. Like my games. You shouldnt even see the icon of your games/distraction programs. Also when studying and lets say you really want to watch something on youtube, use incognito mode. That way the youtube algorithm resets and doesnt know your weak spots to steal your attention. Recommended videos will be easier to ignore that way.

That's it! Goodbye, KZbin! I gotta stop wasting life's most valuable resource, time. I deleted so many time trap apps and reorganized my home page. Also, I gotta say, your music choice is very pristine. Ever since I saw your cold showers video, I've gotten hooked on French music. Thank you for the inspiration!

Lol u have such God level self control, that's all u have to do,for me to not use Reddit, random internet browsing ,etc I have to literally lock these apps with a 20 digit password with the password written in a notebook which is kept deep inside my cupboard.

While watching your video I got a notification that my screen time last week average 14 hours and 8 minutes a day. I need an intervention. 😩

App timer is a good way to limit app usage, social media in particular. I use this to limit my insta 10 min each day

if you are an iPhone user, try putting all of your apps into one folder. but don't open the folder. Anytime you want to use an app, swipe down and search type in the app you want to use. This forces you to use your phone more intentionally
