Well, it's finally here! if you're wondering "hey, the drums don't sound like chiptune!" that's because they were the drum samples taken from Kirby's Adventure for the NES. The original chiptune's drums felt bland, so I decided to add a bit more depth to them. Hope that clears things up!

Cold take: The drums have always been the weakest part of “pure” chiptunes. The soul of chiptunes resides in the bleeps and the bloops and those timeless synthesizer waves.

i've never heard someone transcribe the piano portion of "anybody can find love (except you)" so accurately
@pixeln_4 ай бұрын
This was actually mentioned in the first video (the non-full version), but I used a MIDI sequencer to take a look at the piano part and make sure it was transcribed correctly. The piano section is not 100% my own, but the drums are (which, honestly, was much harder in my opinion).

Hey, just wondering two things: 1. is this composed in Beepbox or any of its mods? It really reminds me of such 2. if so, how did you add those drum samples? I’m guessing it’s either by importing the samples using a mod like Ultrabox or by using a different software altogether, im just really curious
@pixeln_4 ай бұрын
I use Ultrabox, and by going to Edit > Add Custom Samples, clicking "add multiple samples", then typing in "legacysamples" into the text box, you get a whole bunch of PandorasBox's beta chips (under the "chip" instrument folder). Yeah, it's a whole process. I recommend making a bookmark of a blank song with the samples already loaded.
@star_straw4 ай бұрын
@@pixeln_ Thanks for answering!! Truth be told, I haven’t really messed with custom samples all that much, and knowing there’s a bunch of beta instruments I haven’t used makes me wanna really try em out! Thanks so much for sharing!!

I should probably sit down and actually try to use FamiTracker. It's just a bit overwhelming using a whole new music making system (especially considering the fact I lack any tracker knowledge). It would be nice to have the original NES triangle wave though.
