I nickname the revenant that stands behind Marluxia in the second and third phase Mirage Strelitzia. Speaking of which, flowers are associated with death in Japan, aside from the color white. Sakura and spider lilies are the prime examples since they represent the deceased; while sakura buds grow in April, spider lilies grow in September and are more of a parasitic force(thank Silent Hill F for that). Makes sense with Marly because his English VA Keith Ferguson also played as Reaper in Overwatch, as well as his color being pink(as in sakura petals) because too much pink energy is dangerous. Kinda made people think that he was a girl at first(even though Marluxia was originally female early on in KHCoM's development).
