Magnus your vlogs are awesome! Don't be so hard on yourself. It's inspiring seeing you put so much effort into them. But if you need less talking and more climbing to keep vlogging then do it! Just don't stop vlogging lol

Hi Magnus, I'm a climbing coach in the UK...it blows my mind how dedicated you are to the sport and to your personal goals...you're a huge inspiration for me and everyone I interact with in the climbing community! I know this Vlog is from a while ago but the quality astounds me. Best wishes, Ben :)

Just echoing what others are saying. You vlogging is a gift to us, thank you. Your editing is wonderful and there's no hint of not being interesting! Following your downs as well as your ups is inspirational as well. Again, thank you.

You're right Magnus. Telling a story is what makes a vlog interesting. If you can find one thing to "overcome" or goal for each vlog that you specifically communicate it will make it super interesting. Even if you don't reach the goal, the way you communicate it makes all the difference. These are super inspiring to watch!

"Too much chalk on the holds" is also my go-to excuse :-) But seriously, don't be so hard on yourself and don't worry that much about your grumpy mood... That's what we're here for and that's what makes the vlogs interesting.

Magnus, your vlog is so entertaining! Your editing is superb, and the training content isn't at all boring. I just got home after a heavy session myself, and watching you suffer even more is really motivating and inspiring! A question/request for future (gym-based) vlogs: I would be very interested to hear more about your training plan/strategy. Like, what is the reason you choose the various exercises, what are the goals you are building towards (outdoor bouldering or route grade? General strength goals?). How (if at all?) do you design your training plan from day to day, week to week and month to month? I'd just like to hear more about the why behind your training! :)

As rock climbers, I think we see the story and you shouldn't feel the "interesting" content pressure. I speak personally, but think its cool just to see the sort of things you're doing and feeling the struggle that I also feel when I train. It's interesting enough to see the work mentality of your favorite climbers being similar to what I feel.

Great stuff, as usual! If the training and editing schedule is getting too much, just do the edit every second or third day, we can wait a bit. We should all be training, you're putting the rest of us to shame ;-)

It must be very difficult spending all day climbing and vlogging and then going home only to spend more time working on editing. An idea for next time would be to film the entire week as you go and then edit it after you have finished. It could still be episodic, released a day at a time but it would mean you would have a bit more time to rest and it might not be so hard doing the training itself. You could build up a backlog of video before hand so you can release one or two videos while you are training. It's also very noticeable that you have a lot more energy when you are climbing with your friends. Having people around you who are also psyched to train or climb really helps with the morale and motivation and it shows in your videos. Get more people in on the vlog and ask if they'll help out from time to time. It's very easy to get inside your own head and put yourself down when you are on your own. Love your videos Magnus. Keep doing what you are doing and take care of yourself.

What fishmate said could be seen as jest, but it also has merit. To get better on slopers, you gotta work slopers! That being said, try doing open hand grip exercises. Hang from the slopey part of a hang board (the top usually) and keep your hands open. Google open hand climbing grip if you need a reference. Slopers at times aren't really about how you are holding them with your hands, rather, it is really what the rest of your body is doing. Try to focus on getting your center of gravity directly below the hold. Sometimes a sloper becomes better if you "meat hook" it with your hand/wrist or shift your body weight to one side.
@fishmate5443
@fishmate5443 7 жыл бұрын
Definitely wasn't jest. In 9/10 cases that is the best initial solution before progressing to, as you say, open hand grip exercises. There are good options on the market. Amongst other things, I use wooden balls at home (again, not jesting). You can hang weights off them and alter your grip position or hang them off slings and work various positions. They have definitely contributed to an improvement in my open hand work. Sorry my initial response confused...

pushing like this when your body is clearly telling you not to do so is really bad. this is when injuries happen...... tendinitis, pulley injuries, etc. please listen to your body and don't push too hard. you're already crazy strong. you'll continue to get stronger doing what you've always done. pushing this hard seems like you're just gonna get hurt. also make sure you're taking in enough calories to sustain this. that could be another reason you feel so tired.
@fishmate5443
@fishmate5443 7 жыл бұрын
He's ok. Training for climbing tends to be like this from time to time. His body isn't telling him not to do this. It is merely adapting to the change in routine (or input if you like). Magnus' conditioning will more than cope with the load.
@Duckers_
@Duckers_ 7 жыл бұрын
You forget he's been climbing and training for years and no doubt knows his own body and how it responds. This is also a routine he regularly does to improve. As he said in the Q&A - he's never had a finger injury - same can't be said for most climbers!
@Brewsto
@Brewsto 7 жыл бұрын
Trying to reach your absolute limits literally means you're going to have risky sessions on the verge of injury and your body will have to suffer if you want to reach absolute best performance. Ondra said this aswell. Why do you think so few people climb 9a 9a+ 9b etc. Besides that though I remember Magnus saying on a Q&A that he's never being injured which means he was great genetics and means that he doesn't have to listen to random comments on youtube telling him how to train.
