I dont know whether to be sad or happy. I like playing third base, but im probably gonna be put in center fielder. Just cause im a faster athletic guy. Third base though ;(

What I appreciate most about this. Idea is it’s no frills, direct and to the point honesty. We see plenty of the “Your kid can be a star” videos on KZbin. It’s refreshing to see the “This is the reality as it stands now” videos. Thanks Dan.

I know this video is 2 years old but I"m super thankful for your content. I have a U12 player who is the best player on a mediocre team. Unless something changes he'll probably never be that "D1 super athlete" that other parents seem to pray for. But he loves the game and practices a ton on his own so he's a good player and fun to watch. We have transitioned from rec ball to a select team and it has been difficult to navigate parents, coaches, decisions, equipment, etc. Your videos have been invaluable not just to help in that process but to just better understand the game, the sport and the planning involved. As a kid growing up, I played Soccer not Baseball so my expertise is super limited. I understand athletics and competition and hard work but the specifics of baseball are beyond me. I want to be able to guide my son but I'm woefully undereducated. And as you clearly know, this sport is a complicated series of decisions based on priorities we as parents often don't understand. So thanks for putting together so many instructionally useful videos that I am sure will help me avoid many common mistakes made by parents of young athletes.

My 11 year old son is left handed. Pitches and plays 1st base his entire baseball life. He’s with Canes now and plays CF/1st base/LHP. His coaches said exactly what you stated about a CF’er and what they should have. My son is the fastest on the team, bats 2nd, high OBP .650 plus. His coaches explained once he hits high school he’ll never play 1st base over some 225 pound monster that hits for power, is slow as hell and can barely catch. They said he needs as many reeds as possible for ball off the bat now so he’s ready. Thanks for the quality information Coach.

Love this stuff. I will say that we have a local kid who hit 1 HR in 4 yrs of high school and was drafted top 5 as a 1B. Playing in the MLB now. Power can develop over time.

Excellent video. Years ago you authored an article for Collegiate Baseball discussing baseball seam height and its effect on pitchers at the amateur level. I think your subscribers would be interested in your perspective on the subject given the present situation regarding professional pitchers' utilization of "foreign" substances. Keep up the great work.

You have any videos as to weight training during the off-season trying to get my fb up touching 75 sitting 71-73 goal is touching 80 sitting mid 70s this is flat ground @14
Where do you get accurate contact to first times? I am at 4.1 at best and around 4.27 at worst. I asked a friend that used to play in the pros and he said 4 flat was a fast hit to first time.

If you hit, they will find a spot for you on the field. You may have to adjust your position as you move up, but who cares, you’re playing and finding your niche.
