I can connect my phone to my avr sound system using one of these devices and have sound but if I connect my smart tv to the now Bluetooth avr sound system, I can't hear anything. I'm so confused! I thought it would work the same as it's just the tv connected instead of the phone.

I have a 2240 B... I Love it! I bought it from a St. Vincent de Paul store for $120, and paid a technician $120 to service it. It's the best $240 receiver I've seen. I've been using it every day for 3 years, it sounds GREAT! Thanks for the video.

I bought the Harman Kardon BTA 10 after viewing this and it saved me from the need to throw my near-30 year old JVC receiver in the trash. I used your mini tutorial to set it up also, because what you've shown here is better than the documentation that comes with the device, or the support material that's available on the manufacturer's website. Many many thanks, kind sir. BTW, that is one sweet piece of vintage equipment. I thought that might be some mid-70's gear as I used to hang with a kid who had the best system in the neighborhood, and his looked similar as I recall.

Ive been connecting my phone to my old aiwa stack system for great sound via a 3.5mm jack cable. Now ive seen your video im inspired to go down the bluetooth route for both of us. Thanks for the video and information. It makes me think back to the day. I really like those late 1970's vintage Marantz receivers with the blue displays. I started out with a 2226, BIC turntable with Stanton cartridge, Pioneer Cassette and JBL L36 speakers for $1.000. That helped me establish my credit while attending college. My grades went up because I stayed in my room more listening to my system and actually studied. That era was a lot of fun and I enjoyed all the catalog wish books of gear and vinyl as low as $3.99. It was so fun to go into the different Hi Fi stores to look at all the new gear. Incredible how much some of that vintage equipment is going for today. A new pair of retro JBL L100's for $4k that were $600 back then. I realize technology has made quantum leaps since then and they can't be compared. I don't have that kind of disposable income anymore either. A Bluetooth will get my old gear set up again and I will hear my music without the pops and clicks of my old vinyl collection. Who would have thought back then that today I carrying my favorite music on a 3/8 inch long card that fits into a phone that is slightly larger than an old cassette tape.

My parents bought a Pioneer sx-535 receiver for me in 1974. Had it and played it for 25 years. I think your Marantz is higher end. There was something special about the sound coming out of those receivers.

I've been trying to figure out how I can play my smart phone through a stereo receiver, I've asked numerous electronic people on how I can do this, their response was "Just buy a wireless speaker, they sound great!!! " Ummmm, No!!!... my thought was they wont sound like a vintage receiver w the power they have & through vintage speakers that can handle that power, just like you said in this video. I have been in the audio trade for most of my life, and I also like to mess with small Engines, Cars, and a life long hobby of CB Radio. Iam now in the hospitality business and still love going to work each day. When using your Bluetooth adapter on your stereo if you don't have enough pre-amp signal from BT to your receiver you may want to add a line driver (pre-amp) to really get a good sound. Never thought of this. I have my old SIRIUS receiver going into my Sansui 9090 via FM in my shop. I've been plugging the SIRIUS ac power adapter into a wall plug every time I turn the stereo on. Now I'm, going to run out to my shop (where the Sansui is) and plug the SIRIUS into the "switched" plug on the rear of the stereo and eliminate having to do that every time I go out there. Cool. And now I think I've got the idea for hooking up my 'iDroid' (old smartphone - not Apple!) which has tons of our fave music stored on it. Thanks for the info!

Excellent tutorial - thank you. I will use this as a way to extend the capabilities of my existing system. I started my system in the late 1970's when I was working for Radio Shack. I had to replace the receiver and turntable in the early 1990's after they ate a lightning bolt but the speakers are still original. Major project to start is transferring all of my vinyl to digital - Bluetooth will be a big help.

I unpacked my 10-year old SONY entertainment system from storage and experienced a nasty hum coming from the speakers as soon as I connected my laptop via the headphone-out using a 3.5mm to 2x RCA adapter cable to the AUX input on the amp. Then I thought about connecting a BlueTooth receiver to my SONY setup since my laptop has BT too. And you've just showed me that that's the way to go.👍

Thanks for sharing this. I have the same, exact receiver. My first stereo, and I still have it. Bought it back in the day, when I was in high school, along with several other vintage Marantz's over the years, including a 2275 i brought up out of the basement to replace an Onkyo in the bedroom that I could never understand, that I utterly hated. It could never drive my Infinity SM150 studio monitors, (monkey coffins) the way the 2275 could. Moved the 2250 out in the garage workshop, paired with a pair of old Klipschorns, and an older Yamaha cd player for music while working on projects, hobbies, etc. Miss it in the house, but have kept up with the times, (for whatever that's worth) and replaced it in the main living room with a newer, digital, state of the art, high tech, Harman Kardon 7.1 home theater unit with all the bells and whistles. Another one I hate. Never could figure out how to do the whole bluetooth thing, but looks like you solved that for me. Seems easier than I thought it would be. I, too agree with you 100%. - I really do not understand the kids today, listening to music on a crappy bluetooth speaker, or worse yet, over their smartphones. In my mind, since the advent of the compact disc, and now, bluetooth we have the access to the best source material ever.- Something we didn't have back in the day with vinyl, reel to reel, 8 track or cassette. But we had better, smoother, amplifiers with cleaner, high current power, and lower distortion. My question to Millenials, and someGenXers: Why would you waste a perfection, by playing it back through an imperfection, and such terrible, imperfect speakers? Go figure. Anyway, it's nice to see there are still a few of us left who have an appreciation for vintage audio equipment. Best part is we can have the best of both worlds. Now I just need to find one of these HK bluetooth devices, and get started. 30 years ago, if anyone ever told me we'd have the internet, cellphones, and bluetooth, and we'd be listening to news and music over a handheld computer called a smartphone, I'd have told them they watched Back to the Future too many times. Sounds much like my own past, cutting grass, shoveling snow, and working in a hardware store/lumber yard from jr. high through high school to achieve those prized possesions. Funny you mention HH Scott. I had a couple of those, back in the day, one paired with the earliest Bose 901 series 1 speakers, which were a major acquisition at that time I bought lightly used, and a dozen years later, I re-coned them with new surrounds which had rotten foam. I later sold them cheap after getting out of the Army, and wished I hadn't. Some of the most exotic creations of the hey day have sadly now gone the way of the dinosaur. 😀

Another good point about hooking the power brick into switched power is that the unit has no off switch, if it's powered on all the time it will jam and screw with your Bluetooth all around your home. On switched power once you power down the receiver it just shuts off.

I think the negative people are a bit harsh, its not so much a how to do, but simply it never occurs to us to do it. Yes its all a trade off, digital to bluetooth, then to analogue, all he is saying is that if you have an old amp around that is in good nick, u can put it to use, ie the kids rumpus room or garage or where ever u dont want to put your high end stuff. You can see that he has an appreciation for old stuff in good nick from his wayside comment "Look how clean that is". Plus the kids turn on one switch and it all comes to life, yes u could tether straight in, but he might be sitting in a spa, who wants to get out to skip a track? How u apply it is irrelevant, its good info. BTW there are plenty of people who need a how to, the outputs on the back were a good tip, many people don't know the reason for these.

The video helped me to understand that the little unit is just a RECEIVER of signal that is then amplified by the receiver and that was helpful. However, the video stopped at the most important moment for me: pairing the unit with a smartphone and hearing the music from the stereo. Doesn't KZbin have licence-free music one can use for such a purpose? Thanks.

Plugging it in is the easy part. What app do you use to make it stream music from your phone and how do you pair it? That s the harder question to answer and where I need help....

On your mobile device you can just stream audio from your playlist, turn on your Bluetooth, pair to your Bluetooth receiver and enjoy. ( same thing using Pandora app as well ) Real basic, once you get set up, you will get the hang of it.... Cheers

@breakerbroke23 what mine has is the word tape then a line drawn around these words. On the left it's int with an arrow pointing left and ext with an arrow pointing right. There is a switch underneath that moves left and right. Then over there are the words play and record with places to plug into L and R under both. That is all that says anything about tape. On Over is to plug in a turntable and then speakers. I wish I could attach a picture so I can show you. Can you help with this description?

I had a Marantz 2238b with ESS Performance 8 speakers as a teenager. Awesome sounding system. Should have kept that and gotten rid of girlfriend(not the other way around).

I have a Marantz 2220b that has a Sony 300 disc CD player attached to the AUX port. I want to wirelessly play outdoor speakers and wondering how to set up this speaker system to my disc player to play my CDs through the audio system outside on those outdoor speakers. Do you set up the output Jack’s of my Sony player to the input of a Bluetooth adapter and stream to my outdoor speakers? What device would I need to do this?

Its extremely quiet if I plug it into CD, tuner etc. If I plug it into phono it somewhat fixes the volume issues but it sounds so so bad. Sounds like its missing 70% of the audio. This is with quality passive speakers, a quality old school amp, decent cables. Not sure what I'm doing wrong here

Yea you should not use phono input. It is way to sensitive and it has RIAA equalization. By not getting enough volume i believe that you need a BT Receiver with more RCA pre-amp output, (some stereo receivers are what I call deaf, meaning their RCA Ins are not very sensitive) so I would use a BT unit that gives more RCA level output. Like the Fiio BTA30 amzn.to/2SQ2Nku OR 192kHz Digital to Analog Converter Bluetooth 5.0 Receiver amzn.to/3uP5qjC OR FX-Audio DAC-X6 amzn.to/2TvYT0m All of these units will give you a higher RCA output level and should take care of your lack of volume issue. Hope this helps and keep us posted. BTW... if you ordered the HK from Amazon, just send it back and tell them it does not match your stereo. EDIT.... I have used many other units but I recommend these 3 because of that extra RCA out level. For YOUR situation.

@@breakerbroke23 how do u get sound from your home stereo into your Bluetooth headphones I'm trying to get the sound from my xbox Into my headphones I figured out only thing these devices do is make your music from your phone come out your home speakers.. I was thinking I could get the sound from my xbox into the headphones using this device wasted my money

I laugh at all these ding dongs that think their puny little phone is better an actual stereo system. A Marantz with Bluetooth is about as badass as it gets. Well done I love it.

Plug it straight in though it really kicks ass. I can't help but bash this crap from the days of floppies and dial-up. It's outdated, even though there is nothing proper to do this right.

I have a very similar setup. 2238B Marantz, using a HK BTA 10 connected the way yours is. BUT, I'm on my second BTA 10 unit in a few months and they've both been very low quality, dropping one of the channels repeatedly, and the fault is a crappy 3.5mm audio plug. Take it out, replug it--the channel's back, for a few minutes. So...maybe a different Bluetooth unit is the answer, because I love the convenience of that setup.

I had a marantz and it blew alot of high end speakers.Was one of the best my second choice is kenwood great sound.Hook up your reciever to your smart tv and stream from it and your tablet great sound

I have an amplifier in my garage and an amplifier in my house. Is there to connect them simultaneously with Bluetooth? Play music on both at the same time with my iPad?

You could buy an FM transmitter that plugs into your phones headphone socket.Choose a frequency and tune your receiver to the same frequency and what plays on your phone plays through your system.I use one in my car as my radio does not have an aux input,yes my car is that old. £4 in UK on E-bay.

FM modulators/Transmitters are a MAJOR degrade in audio quality. IMHO

I am old school. Why have a vintage system if streaming makes you happy? I like tuning the dial, touching my vinyl, and popping in my CD's.

I'm with you bud, however I like the convenience of BT, back when this video was made most BT receivers were cassette grade audio at best..... well not that bad. Now we have BT 5.1 and the sound is very good, advertised as "CD quality" still not quite there but getting close. IMO. I like to BT from my phone to the stereo, I still use my turntable as I like to participate in my music experience, I use my cassette deck here and there and I don't listen to CD's much anymore but that goes back and forth.. For me..... Its all about the music, no matter it's a clock radio, Pandora, XM, Baofeng walkie talkie or the main Stereo system. Thanks for watching. Cheers
