Sounds great! Nice playing, touch, and tone. Seems like you bring the best out of this pedal.

Thanks for watching! This pedal is great. After trying a bunch of expensive "boutique" pedals I have come back to this one as one of the most clear and natural drives around.

Decent sounding pedal! Have you also tried OKKO Diablo Gregor Hilden? It is also very naturally sounding overdrive with great EQ options to tailor it to your guitar (pickups). And a separately activatable boost.

I love the breakers! Just very natural sounding. I also love the Jan Ray. I have no tried the pedal you mention! I will look out for them though! Thanks. Always way too many pedals to try 😂

I have the Breakers and I had de Okko. In my honest opinion the breakers is perfect in every respect. I didn´t find the Okko suitable to my setup, it didn´t sound totally right, no chirp, odd frequency response, but had the regular version, not the GH one.
@grooveitman929 Жыл бұрын
I´ve had the Okko Diablo with the boost section many years ago, and I bought the Breakers 4 years ago. It´s just my opinion, but the EQ curve in the Okko was a bit strange for me and I sold it, I couldn´t bond with it, I don´t know how much difference there is with the GH version. The Breakers is the best drive channel I have had, it sounds even more natural and pleasant than the drive channel in my Reeder´s modded Boogie Lonestar Classic with The tube store valves. I have many boutique overdrives and the Breakers has been my all around drive for many years. It is very versatile and sounds great in many levels of drive, even with neck humbuckers.

Great pedal , sounds like something I would love , seems to be kinda like a Timmy ,sounds great with that Nash !!!
@jamesemerson41023 жыл бұрын
Yes it's kind of similar to the Timmy in the way that it is (Buzz word alert!!) transparent. It adds a nice bit of subtle compression to the sound, too. It never gets fizzy and has plenty of headroom. Really great clear, punchy drive pedal.

Great 👏🏻... Breakers or Del Mar?
@jamesemerson41024 ай бұрын
@@jefcan Thanks 🙏 many people don't know this but the plan behind the breakers was to improve upon the del mar. The del mar gained such a name for itself that the hype stuck around it and so it was reissued as well. The Del Mar is fantastic as well. I prefer the Breakers for my playing style, but they're both great.

it suds great! Is it a kind of bluesbreaker?
@jamesemerson4102 Жыл бұрын
It's a great pedal indeed. No, it's not based at all on the blues breaker. The name "breakers" relates to the sound of waves breaking on the rocks, as the company is based near bondi beach :). It's a lovely, smooth overdrive that never gets fizzy.

No. This one is not related to the Blues Breaker at all

At higher settings, I heard a Klon honk. What do you think that this pedal does best? Btw, great tone. Cheers
@jamesemerson41023 жыл бұрын
This pedal does have something in common with the Klon. There is a slight mid boost but not as much as a klon or a tube screamer. Also, the clean signal is mixed in with the overdrive so as you turn up the gain, you're adding more overdrive to your clean tone. I believe the Klon does a similar thing. It sounds good with humbuckers and single coils, which I find is not the case with many overdrives. The Bass and Treble pots are very convenient and very useful. Very punchy and strong drive, cuts through the mix very well.

Hi, you ever tried Greer Lightspeed? I Think you’d really like that. Why do you prefer the breakers over the ODS vemuram? More midrange in the breakers is that right?
@jamesemerson41024 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have tried the greer and it's a really great pedal. The breakers is a clean signal mixed in so it's a little different. I just find that it is the smoothest and most subtle. The Vemuram just had too much bass for me. Breakers has some mids but it's not really a mid hump like a tube screamer or anything. More subtle. It's just a great extension of your clean. I play a Dumble style amp and I love how everything is cascading from clean into overdrive.

You rip man! Doe you prefer this pedal to the Soloist?
@jamesemerson41023 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words! To me, this pedal is more subtle than the soloist. It just gives you a smooth sustain and nice subtle compression. Perfect for a really clear, punchy lead sound. The soloist is more squishy feeling under the fingers and is a great sound, also. I think the soloist is probably a more distinctive sound. Both great. This pedal gets overlooked though and I believe it's because of it's subtlety.

@@jamesemerson4102 This is incredibly helpful! I'm currently using a JHS Double Barrel and I do find that I enjoy the Morning Glory side better than the Moonshine side (TS). Anyway, I've been looking into getting a Soloist but then saw your video on the Breakers OD and it immediately peaked my curiosity. Anyway, thanks again for the prompt response. I'll be giving you a follow, and stealing some of your licks (hahaha) because you play so flippin' tastefully!
@jamesemerson41023 жыл бұрын
@@clarkabbottmusic No worries, I try to reply to most comments when I can! Oh, the other thing I would say about the breakers. It's best into a Fender style clean. It works with humbuckers as well as single coils... And it's probably got a bit less of a mid hump than the soloist. The soloist is just a straight up nice Tube screamer with some extra features. All the best!
