I'm so glad they've been helpful to you! I did record more last summer (2020) but I just haven't gotten around to editing them yet. I'm going to get them done soonish 😁

Hi, new subscriber here. So far I'm enjoying your tips. I do have some suggestions to make meals easier. I prep all my meals in advance at home, and vacuum seal each meal individually. Example: a frozen portion of chicken/fish/steak and portion of frozen broccoli/asparagus/green beans with garlic butter, lemon etc. Vacuum seal it. Lable it. Freeze it. Then I layer those packets in my ice chest based on when I plan to eat it. I also make ice "bricks" and vacuum seal those too. Minimum amount of ice needed as most of the food is frozen, and almost no water in the ice chest to seep into the food. Would love to chat more with you about camping 😊

Great ideas! When I am making dinners while camping (I didn't this year because of my pregnancy and my mom volunteering to spearhead that for our family), I do something very similar where I precook at least the main part of the meal and then freeze it so all I have to do is heat it up and it does add to the "ice" in the ice chest. I have also pre-made pancakes and bacon to make breakfast easier as well. This was a bit of an off-year for me with the pregnancy but I'm so thankful for the help I got so that my kids didn't miss out on camping.

Would love the recipe for whatever you were cooking over the fire on wooden dowels, thanks!

We just got back from this year's camping trip and we made them again. I'll get the recipe from my mom and let you know soon. I know it uses Bisquick, water, and powdered milk but I'm just not sure on the amounts.

What do you eat for lunch on the days your family has sandwiches since you’re pregnant? I’m having so much trouble finding options now that I’m pregnant since I can’t eat deli meats.

I have a sandwich as well. The meat I use is sliced meat, not prices deli meat. It's just sliced turkey or chicken that I buy from Costco. I typically buy the Columbus brand (it doesn't have any nitrates).

I think it's crazy how much I've learned only through my 3 years of camping experience. Things are starting to go so much smoother and I'm feeling much more comfortable while out camping now. I've decided to use air mattresses and sleeping bags on top instead of laying on the hard ground because it didn't allow me to get a good night's sleep as I have hoped, and I know many would consider that as glamping but I managed to still experience real and hardcore camping even though now I'm sleeping in a bigger and more "home like" environment. But I truly think that adding furniture like lamps and dressers is truly ridiculous and defeats the entire purpose of camping in the woods. They might as well title it glamping and do it in their backyard or something.

I don't think there's any shame in saving your back from the hard ground and sleeping comfortably 😁

How do you keep the water from the ice in the coolers from leaking into the Ziploc bags! Thats what I have trouble with!
@SaraWeston5 жыл бұрын
I double bag everything and sometimes water will get into the outer bag and I'll just drain it out if needed. I've also started to use more blocks of ice instead of cubes or pieces and that has helped a lot with keeping the water down in the use chest in general. The cubes last a lot longer too.

Maybe look into cooler crates?

where do you keep the food?

In a bear box on the campsite and in our car and ice chests (I go over this more in my video where I show you how I set up our campsite, I believe)
