"Breakfast at Tiffany's"--where the 50s ended and the 60s began! Even in blue jeans and with a towel wrapped around her head--Audrey Hepburn was the most elegant creature on God's Green Earth! She was an icon of my childhood, and my sisters and I never missed a movie of hers--whether playing on the big screen or on TV. I had the distinct honor and privilege of seeing her perform in Philadelphia in 1990 during the UNICEF "Concert for Life" tour. She read from "The Diary of Ann Frank", while accompanied by Michael Tilson Thomas and The New World Symphony. It was a once in a lifetime experience for me, and Miss Hepburn was just as elegant and magnetic a star as she was during her Hollywood heyday. I still can't believe that she died less than three years after I saw her in concert. I think she gave her all in the cause of helping underprivileged and starving children throughout the world. She certainly put UNICEF back on the map, back to the heights that it had enjoyed while Danny Kaye was its Goodwill Ambassador during the 1960s.

@@jmelande4937 "Except it wasn’t Audrey singing. It was Marni Nixon." What an infantile idea. I know you; you're the guy who runs around, spreading falsehoods about actresses who performed songs in movies. Those of us of a certain age have heard Marni Nixon's voice many times, and have heard Audrey Hepburn's voice many times. They weren't at all similar. This is obviously Audrey Hepburn singing.
@larryschmid38346 жыл бұрын
Audrey’s voice is so real and truthful. That was her charm. U can learn to sing with that kind of feeling. Better singers yes. Anything else that honest. No chance.

@jmelande49375 жыл бұрын
The singing voice is actually Marni Nixon. Look her up. She’s an amazing vocalist that did several musicals in the 1950’s without credit. Hollywood wanted to promote their stars, and dubbing a more talented singing voice over the stars’ lower quality voice was one way to do it.
@EnderSpy3585 жыл бұрын
John Melander is that credible?
@jmelande49375 жыл бұрын
Le , oh yes. It’s not rumor, it’s confirmed fact. A quick google search will bring up plenty of reliable sources that will say the same thing. She also did the vocals for Maria on West Side Story and she did the vocals for the female lead for the first theatrical version of The King and I.
@shaneconstantine65315 жыл бұрын
@John Melander A quick google search will bring up that it's Audrey Hepburn's vocals and the original version of that song. Henry Mancini, the composer, tailored the melody to her limited vocal range and he always believed that Hepburn’s rendition was the best. “No one else has ever understood it so completely”. In Sabrina(La vie en rose)and Funny face, it's her vocals too. The only time she was dubbed by Marni Wilson, a true soprano, was in 'My fair lady'.
