Dude, I have a project coming up I was stressing about, and the router trick at 3:04 totally cleared it up. Thanks
@CDN_Torsten8 жыл бұрын
I've found the router method can result in a nice (straight/clean) cut - much better than I can do with a circular saw...especially if you use a 1/2" spiral cutter.

great video. was there a reason you did biscuits joining some of it and not for others?

Peter Thanks! It was for alignment. When I glue up large tables its easier to get all the pieces lined up
@joeshaft8 жыл бұрын
Kyle Toth okay gotcha. I actually have a big length of ash that used to be a fire place mantel and this has just convinced me to make it I to a table. I dont have a biscuit joiner though. 4 boards wide and glued only? Think it will be okay?
@WoodByToth8 жыл бұрын
Peter Yeah thats fine. You dont need a bisect jointer. I use it for alignment when doing glue ups alone
@joeshaft8 жыл бұрын
Kyle Toth thanks for the reply, really appreciate your input! I'll be doing my glue up tomorrow. 4 boards wide at 10 inches wide each. That reminds me I need to buy some more clamps tomorrow!

Noob Here! This, like all of your videos, is both entertaining and inspiring. I appreciate the format and style. You keep making them and I will keep watching. Now let me ASH you a quick question: I am looking to pick up some bar clamps and I see you use a couple different ones in this build. Which would you recommend? Are they the same that you prefer?
@WoodByToth7 жыл бұрын
bezelfor thanks! My favorite ones are tge Bessy clamps. They are really expensive though so I only have 6 of them. Next favorite which work really well are the Rockler bar clamps. They are the blue ones. I get them at holiday time when the are half off. The other ones i have i'm not sure of the brand. Hopefully that helps

Exactly. Why waste beautiful wood by painting it. Just use ply. It makes zero difference when it's painted.

Beautiful piece Kyle, was worried when I saw the black going on but the grain comes through really well. Out of interest do you find you get commissions on the back of your KZbin vids?
@WoodByToth8 жыл бұрын
James Davies Thanks! Occasionally I do. Most of the time people buy the thing that i'm make in the video from the video. Thats if its doesn't already have a home
@pockettrainersupport45955 жыл бұрын
I'm curious...it looked like you used biscuits on some of your joinery, but only glue on others...why? Does glue only hold up? How'd you attach the top to the base? Looks great! I've got a big ash that I just took down that I thought I would only use for firewood, but after seeing this, I can see it has a good looking grain to it!
@ryanpeters5678 жыл бұрын
Cool video. Did you joint the edges of the table top pieces off camera? You start the video by ripping them on your table saw, but just wondering if you needed to joint them also.
