Most of our community have been supplemental feeding our local herd for over 20 years now. We personally have been for over 11 years. They allow us to get reasonably close when we are feeding or tending the watering holes, there are a couple who eat out of the food bucket and one doe that allows us to pet her. Our relationship with Bambi came from different circumstances. Bambi literally approached us for help a day or so after his Mom was hit and killed by a car. At this point he was dehydrated and starving in July heat. He had attempted to nurse from other unwilling nursing does, one of which left a hoof cut across his forehead. We could of left him to starve, but we choose to help him to survive. We stand behind our decision as being the right one - for both him and us and if the situation happens again, we will do the same. This is the situation that created the strong bond between Bambi and us. Thanks for watching our channel.

The food was not left on the table for the Deer to pick up and eat. The food in the tray was carried outside and put on the table so that the human could hand fed the deer. This is what we have done for him since he was less than a week old when he first approached us for help after his Mom was killed in early July. @@kitchenwindowwildlife I did sub. I'll find your older vids of the fawn. I still have about 12 deer in my area, and they have been coming to my bird feeders for years. There were once more deer, but the land around here is too valuable for house land. I throw out 4 pitchers of cracked corn per day for the wildlife. I've had 44 turkeys at once about 2 months ago. 12 came today. Last week There were 18 mallards and hens. Opossums come as do wood chucks and other critters. Once years back, I picked up about 400 lbs of cracked corn and put out 50 lbs (1 bag) per day to see what happens. I had 6 - 8 the 1st few days, and by the 5th day, I had over 30 deer lined up at the woods line. One would start going to the corn, and then they all charged. After observing deer in my yard for nearly 30 years., I've seen that they are innocent. caring family animals that care for one another and have feelings. A mama deer has brought her two spotted fawns to my yard since early spring, and they are still by her side today. Her youngsters are both does. The deer and other wildlife bring me peace and solace, and I'm grateful to have them around.

It makes me sad to see forests leveled to build suburbia. Glad you still have deer although a smaller herd than you are used to and all of the other wonderful creatures. As You know and have observed; Deer are amazing, loving beings and they certainly have individual personalities. Most of our community have been supplemental feeding our local herd for over 20 years now. We personally have been for over 11 years. They allow us to get reasonably close when we are feeding or tending the watering holes, there are a couple who eat out of the food bucket and one doe that allows us to pet her. I would of loved to have seen your turkeys. We do not have them here, have seen them in several national forests, but certainly never as many at one time as you have. That must be quite a sight. @@kitchenwindowwildlife Nobody can get near the deer around here. They run away or stay far back when they see people. I really wish I could get close. Loss of habitat is the most serious issue. I've seen large tracks of woods leveled for houses/buildings. Meadows and grasslands destroyed. It makes me sick. The cities are so greedy. All they see are dollar signs for taxes and allow anything to be developed. Some of the developments have the houses so close, you could barely get a riding mower between them. They squeeze as many homes out of a parcel as they can.

The destruction of wild land disgusts us as well. It is so sad to see bewildered wildlife with no where to go to survive. They are doing the same deal with jamming houses together here. @@kitchenwindowwildlife Here in West Virginia I think just about everyone loves animals. My neighbor feeds them too. I think it is important to feed them especially during the winter months where the food is in short supply. I only give them a couple of gallons of feed corn but today they stuck around even after they ate all the corn so I cut up a few green apples as a treat. I don't give them too much because I want to make sure they still forage for food and don't get too dependent on me. I never met anyone who loved animals that wasn't a good person inside.

@@thetrumpnewsnetwork7503 deer actually have plenty to eat in the winter so.long as they aren't overpopulated.. I've been walking with wild whitetail for over 2 decades, gotten quite a re-education..relaxed eating of good quality food & rest to ruminate, digest is of utmost importance.. They seek out most nutritious foods, in winter eat the twig ends of bushes & trees due to the nutrient, sugar loading in the buds/twigs supporting the buds..HEAVY SNOW is their winter enemy for inhibited travel to food..deep snow travel costs energy..cold is nothing, but trudging away all your gained energy tires! My deer live in a suburban area & have bird feeders to, but they PRIMARILY eat woody browse.. "sweet-twigs" like you see squirrels & crows doing all winter! They are just like us but also so alien in their ways..its cool to be close enough to see all they eat, how they sniff out nutritive value, & focus on the broad plate.. you would be surprised by what they eat!

@@kitchenwindowwildlife Thanks for posting this explanation. It’s going to be hard for him to give up his breakfast buffet when he’s grown. He probably thinks all baby deer get humans to feed them when they’re small. I hope to god you don’t live in hunting country. I had a job where I helped people with phone calls. I had to hear private phone calls (nothing shocked us and our job was not to listen but to assist disabled people). I heard phone calls from hunters about the hunt and contrary to what I thought, there never was any reverence or respect shown towards the deer the hunters killed. It was greedy for the meat savings or it was only for laughs. Sad!!!!!! Praying that he and his family are invisible and silent to anyone and anything who would harm them!

You will be glad to know hunting is not permitted in our community and poachers are effectively dealt with. As Bambi is growing up in addition to being self weaned he has also stopped eating many of his tray menu items. Currently, he seems to only be interested in apples, pears, Bambi-O'S, oats, protein deer nuggets and feed corn. All these things we occasionally give out to the entire Herd as well.
