That Loud Pack The only reason AB Soul won't break through or connect as much with his music is because his music lacks soulfulness/melody. Alot of dark beats. I also really don't know what his true style is and wish he didn't rap using the new styles artists are using. His lyrics are witty and deep but he needs to know how to construct a good song/album together combining both soulfulness/musicality and lyrics. The best artists to combine both are Nas, J electronica, Damien Marley, Old Lupe, Kendrick, Cole, Black Thought, Common and etc. But I don't see most 80's babies and under connecting.. Maybe in the west but not on the east coast much. I'm rooting for him though because he has a message.

Kendrick is a process...That man was talking about GKMC in 2009. Holding that album concept until he got the platform.. You heard Ab-Soul say he made Tpab sonically for something his mom and dad to enjoy... Now go back to gkmc... What did Kendrick's mom say in the skit... "Put out something me and your dad can step to.. You know we from Chicago, that's what we do"

xdivision100 as a fan... a pure fan... this is Cole's best work... as a fan it is not his best work... this album was for his wife and daughter... I must respect him for that... if he was to die this would be his greatest album... it was okay but it wasn't great too me as a fan... I'm proud of Cole for being himself and being honest AF... Soulo album was MF beautiful flames bruh... let someone say Soul is overrated and I'm a be like it's about time...
@brianmora2254
@brianmora2254 7 жыл бұрын
John Hurd I'm not too sure man. I would consider myself about a pure fan because I've been listening for J. Cole for a long time. Bought his albums and always supported. I never disliked any of his albums until this one. I feel as though he hasn't progressed. Same flow, but with different lyrics, different beats, and this album really could have been a 2014 Forest Hills Drive ep. His latest album isn't a change up from his others. Some one like Kendrick Lamar (not to compare) has continued to improve and progress his sound. All of his album sound different. J. Cole didn't do anything new on this album and I was a lil disappointed. Still a good album, but after dropping songs like False Prophets and Everybody does this album was a let down.
@johnhurd4878
@johnhurd4878 7 жыл бұрын
brian mora and I do agree with you as a fan... your right on all of that I actually agree with you... I didn't even really care to replay the album I had Soul on repeat all night but Cole was just one listen... I'm a go back and knock it and let it marinate with me... but how I feel about it is how I feel about it... I'm glad all of this music is out haven't had this happen since the 90's... great day too be alive if you love the music that's out... appreciate the feedback overall though...

Poor interview ... with the name of his album being "Do what Thou Wilt" you would have thought these 3 would have done some research. Where did you get the name? It's a quote from Aleister Crowley, you name dropped him in Threatening Nature. He was also the chosen by the freemasons to lead them but later left the organization. How do you relate to him or why did you use his infamous quote. Do you subscribe to his beliefs? They could have gotten a little deeper in this interview... all they did was talk some shallow shit.

can we all just appreciate soul right now, i mean i thought he lost it to be honest. i didn't enjoy these days.. but THIS ALBUM! i'm so glad hes back this thing has been on repeat since it dropped. few rappers can make my jaw drop with their lyrical content and concepts and this man needs to be recognized!!!!!!!! the album is full of food for thought and insane wordplay. even the instrumentals compliment his dark evil genius style and im glad he took extra time to figure out the mixing because it sure shows

GODSON He definitely got a conscious side. He don't like tpab? Well I noticed he likes to have unpopular opinions so that's probably why. For example, a lot of young people didn't vote this year but he stuck to the unpopular opinion of you should vote. He likes to play devils advocate sometimes because he likes the attention.

I am an atheist and never heard of Ab-Soul until this album came out. Do What Thou Wilt is the best album of the year. I listened to it 6 times on Friday.

lord.quasimoto I usually don't mention it, because it's irrelevant and everyone has a right to their views, but atheists don't typically praise music that has a lot of religious references. This is the first religious anything that I didn't immediately turn off.
