Ever since Insecure's debut I've witnessed so many black people begin careers in writing, filmmaking, directing. Issa is paving the way.
@OneLoveRSR3 жыл бұрын
You're doing too much. I can appreciate the love you have for Issa, but put a little perspective on it. The way was paved by Susan Fales Hill, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Yvette Lee Bowser, Sara Finney & Vida Spears, Mara Brock Akil, Meg DeLoatch, Eunetta T. Boone (RIP), Jaqcue Edmonds Cofer, Ali LeRoi and Larry Wilmore, just to say the names of some of the many black writers that have created/written/produced/directed prominent black television shows over the past 30 years who don't get balloons and liquor or even, apparently, the respect of acknowledgement.
@rebeccasmith10083 жыл бұрын
@1neLove thanks for that knowledge, many of those black writers/directors aren't well known, but I think the commenter was referring to the millenial/Gen Z generation. The spaces now are different and television is completely different now.

DJ Envy said "I never understood why we never did that" in regards to real estate and building a community in the Black community. It's a huge disservice to not acknowledge that "We" did and many times those places were shut down or it's community killed off due to redlining, riots, displacement, literal murder etc. The burning of Tulsa is just one of hundreds of examples that we know of. It's happening modern day with gentrification and restructuring districts.

I LOVE Insecure, because it so reminds me of me and my best friend, in the best way. I hate to see it go, but I understand. I'm supr proud of Issa, and how she's grown in the business. I really hope and pray expansion continues to grow, because she is so real and I could always tell her work came from a good place. I wish her the best in every area of her life for the rest of her life. Be blessed, sis.
