I was there on the floor when J Cole came out. Barclays ERUPTED when Cole came out. He’s basically the only legend I haven’t seen live, so it was truly a special moment. So many people were fanning out. And he made a big statement. 50 really ran hip hop and since him, we don’t see rappers going Diamond. GRODT has aged super well. And in all honesty Thriller is the GOAT album, but GRODT in my life was super impactful. I was 13 when it came out and it takes me back to those years, NYC was so different then. I still remember all the lyrics for GRODT.

An Album is a massive undertaking in the industry and nearly every Album isn't solely written and produced by one person. To me, there’s just too many rap acts out there better than him. If we’re talking about commercial rap and radio play, he will go down as one of the greatest. But lyrical and beat wise? No. Every Wu Tang Clan album from Enter the Wu Tang all the way to Wu Tang Forever is better than GRODT. Then there’s Jeru the Damaja, Nas, Common, Pete Rock and C.L. Illmatic, It Was Written, Life After Death, All Eyez on Me, Aquemini, OB4CL, It Takes A Nation, Death Certificate, The Blueprint, GKMC, Carter 2-3, Be, Late Registration, College Dropout - ALL are better than GRODT, and that’s not even all.

That’s J. Cole’s opinion and he’s absolutely positively entitled to it, and yes I agree with him on Get Rich or Die Trying being the Greatest Hip Hop Album of All Time and I love 50cent and everything he has done and still doing , no one can convince me otherwise about him. The only thing I disagree with in Cole’s statement is the Thriller Part, listen man, Thriller is a Phenomenon. I end here.
