I've been following The Ellis' for about 5 years now, and seeing how far they've come is amazing. The way they've held each other down throughout different careers, from the NFL to acting. Creating their podcasts & moving across the country to LA from NY, to provide & create an empire for their 4 beautiful boys. I'm so happy for them. This is beyond dope seeing them receive accolades on their journey! Much love to Khadeen & Devale for allowing us to be apart of the ride, vulnerability & all, God Bless you all! I'm a newer married person (less than 2 years) and the best advice I've received from my pastor in premarital counseling was to make our marriage our own and don't let anyone including him nor our family define what marriage is to us. I seriously recommend that to all couples. Do what works for yall. Only your partners opinion matters.

Marriage is work and you work on the things you love. I love listening to the Ellis’s and they spoke their of truths and dropped a lot of gems. I have been married for 33 years my parents and my in-laws have been married for 53 years. Don't expect for him/her to be the same person you married 5, 10 15+ years ago because you are constantly evolving. Meaning, your personalities, and thought processes are going to change. Every marriage will endure valley experiences but couples have to be willing to work it out. Because the good days out way the bad days. Marriage is a commitment and a growth process. He caters to me and I him. It's one way of showing love to one another. I love our journey. I love seeing Ellis’s interact as a unit. Just beautiful 🌹

I had a good example of marriage with my parents. They never pretended to be perfect. I witnessed hurt feelings and silly arguments….but I also witnessed the make up and laughter afterwards. Growing up my parents used to tell me the keys to a good marriage… 1. Love God more than yourself and your spouse - because even if you feel like going left following God’s instructions on how to act and treat people should take over 2. Marry your friend - because there’s certain things a true friend would never do to you… that someone who had simply a passion or romantic love could. True friendship is a more solid foundation on which to build

Love them. You have to have more pros than cons in a relationship to fight for it. Some, if not most people choose the wrong mate for their own reasons. Once you marry and you start seeing clearly; issues that were always there, you have to see if it’s worth fighting for or not. Both parties have to fight, both parties have to make the necessary change each day to do better.

I don't understand why people would think that marriage is just happily every after. You have to put work into it just like anything else in life. Have we become that naïve or have an image in our heads, or have we allowed the appearance to give us a different view. When you meet or if you have ever met couples who where married for 25, 30, 50 and 60 years. They tell you that its work. I was bless to see my parents married for almost 50 along with Aunts and Uncles. But what I miss about them all, is that they kept it real and honest. People don't look to others to be your role model for marriage, you will have to make your own footsteps. Seek God in regards to your partner and both of you, sit down and have real and deep conversation, remember its not about you, its about both of you.
