I was jumped in March and took a pretty hefty beating which resulted in vision damage in my right eye (permanently blurry). I got back into playing snooker in recovery from PTSD but the biggest thing was getting used to my new eyesight, made me have to think even more on every shot and weirdly made my playing better - it's amazing how my brain uses more of the clear vision from my left eye because it doesn't like the rights blurriness like you say. The follow through technique has been great for me in practise too. Cheers!

This helped this American pool player so much. Im very grateful. I've got 9 months in. Making progress every day. I have this bad habit of looking up as stroke. Today I locked on object ball before my final stroke. I immediately started making more and harder shots. I felt unbeatable for a short time. As i got tired my bad habits came back. After realizing it I got back on track. Thanks so much for this very helpful information. Big thanks from America

Having your eyes fully focus on the object ball while you pause before your last back swing is absolutely vital. If you have been missing balls and are wondering why, think: Have I been giving my eyes sufficient time to fully focus on that object ball before I strike the cue ball? If the answer is no, then you are either a beginner or you are tired/impatient and should take a break. Generally speaking, a rushed pre-shot routine usually means you either don't know better or need a break.

It's just habit, I play at my local club and have done for years and I got it pointed out to me last week that I lift my pinky during my last backstroke of every single shot I take. Maybe it helps with consistency? It's just habit for me.

Its because we put tension on the muscles on the bridge hand, all the way from shoulder down to wrist and palm, thumb and index finger. It helps to lock down your stance and keep your body still. When you see the finger flinching, its usually when the player is in a low low stance and the tension is more horizontal. We also put more pressure on our palm and index finger when we "claw" the palm inwards to raise the bridge a bit more. The midle finger, is also the longest finger, is more free to move. The pressure on the middle finger is less, as we focus on spreading it, rather than pushing it down. The finger gets "nervous" as it struggles to do both things at the same time. Try it yourself. Spread your fingers in a fan pattern, claw your palm inwards and clamp down index and thumb. Lock your muscles, now witch finger is the most sensitive? This is more or less why it moves and takes on a life of it own. Its a sign of a player that is focused and doing the right thing ,so you learn to recognize it, and disregard the flinching.

Try and keep the amount of feathers consistent on every shot. This is important as it allows you to have a consistent eye to cueball to object ball routine which in turn reduces the possibility of your eyes not looking where they should on delivery. Bare in mind some players look at cueball on final delivery and not the point on the object ball. Check out John Higgins for one. But, he has a consistent amount of feathers on 99% of shots that allows him to keep his eye rhythm👍

Sport and science, my fav! But try explaining this phenomenon to a football supporter who can’t accept a referee or linesman “missing” a foul or touch of the ball by an opponent! Sight is such a con, our perception is such a compromise, we see nothing, but do so well, considering!!! Great channel and presentation. I’m from Norwich, Norfolk if you’ve a gap on your map.
