OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MY GOD! This video perfectly describes the main issue I have when I am playing poorly. My stance is not in line with the shot, specifically my right foot (I am right handed) is too far to the RIGHT of the shooting line. It feels totally normal for me to stand this way. I aligned this way for over 40 years. But in the last year-and-a-half I have changed my stance to walk into the shot while putting the ball of my right foot on the shooting line. When I consistently do this I shoot really really well. Alignment is so so so important. It should be the very first thing any person works on. If I had made a video myself talking about alignment what is said in this video would be exactly what I would say. When you stand to far to the left or right of the shooting line it causes you to cue across the ball...even just a little is not good. And the best way to stop from doing this is to stand with your dominant foot on the shooting line or very close to it. GREAT VIDEO!

I am now retired and living in Bacolod Philippines. When young I played a lot of pool and played well, but not a champion. About 5 years ago I decided to start playing again. I lost a lot of my vision in my dominant right eye which made me give up pool until about a year ago. I decided to see if I could make the necessary adjustments to change over to the left eye. After a lot of trial and error and searching on-line for help I came across your videos. Your videos on alignment have been the key for me to start playing maybe even better than when I was Young. Thank you very much for your videos

Excellent! This was something I was working on just a few days ago which certainly improved my pot success. Alignment can be taken for granted but done correctly makes the game so much easier. Will be applying it again this week here in the "Kingdom of Snooker".

hi i lineup a dead straight shot , but when i get down i see that the cue is not pointing towards pointing , always aiming to the left side of the pocket. i put the cue down first then i bring the chest towards cue, but im 100% sure that my cue never moves, as i carefully get down, even in slow motion i even bought a lazer which is like sniper and put on cue, that lazer ensures that my tip is always aiming to the left of pocket when down. what could be the problem>?
@bottlecap573 жыл бұрын
@@theznooker I can only think it's a matter of eye alignment and natural aiming judgement...u think you are aiming centre ball but you are not. A lot of players have that problem. Try tilting your head to the the left or right when down on the shot. It may not look correct to u but could help to centre your cue tip.

You should have made this video way before. I commented once before that though I did everything right my game was no improving in that only my aim was the issue. IT WAS THE STANCE that was the issue. I saw your video in the morning, went to the club in the evening and changed my stance ever so slightly. It improved my game 10 fold. I was potting more consistently. I was a bit uncomfortable but it was working for me. If there is any more information about stance and foot placement. do share it in future videos. THANKYOU

Started practicing more consistently with snooker over the past few months and I’ve have progressed at a good rate thanks to your videos but one thing I can’t do consistently is a screw. I don’t know what it is about it but it just doesn’t happen I will either stun the ball or get minimal movement. I play 8 ball with a friend that grew up in China playing snooker. We are in the U.S. He still stands in a snooker stance. And he's taught me how to stand. I absolutely cannot straighten my right leg. I have to have both legs bent almost the same. I don't know how you guys do it at all. I'm not that tall. I'm 5'11". but it's just impossible. I love the stance. I am so much more accurate, especially with my long potting. but I cannot stand properly like you guys that play snooker. He's helped me so much but can't figure out any way for me to be able to straighten my leg. So I've just been going with it with both legs bent. lol. any ideas? or should I just keep doing what I'm doing with it? thanks.

It’s not a huge issue if you can’t. Mark King is a great example of that

@@Breakfromlife thank you. I've watched him play but haven't looked close at his stance. I'll check it out. Thanks break. I appreciate it. I only found snooker a year ago here on KZbin. And I have watched it everyday since. It's my favorite pool game now. The only problem is...I've never played on a snooker table. The nearest one is 6 hours away in Detroit. It's just not that popular here at all. In fact if you walk into a pool hall here and ask.....maybe 3 out of 10 people know what snooker is. The others don't like it. I wish that it would catch on here. I am making a trip to Detroit this summer for a few days. So I'm excited to play. And then I'm also planning a trip to England but not sure yet when that will be. But when I do if you could recommend a place that I could play in London or near that would be so nice. Thank you again.

Really enjoying your approach to videos. Would love to copy your snooker stance but cannot get anywhere near getting my chin on the cue. I am 6' 5" with two hip replacements and very very stiff spine. Should I give up the proper stance and play standing up like a very old man?
@Breakfromlife4 жыл бұрын
Just try anything that’s fairly sensible and allows you to get your head as low as possible. I know the taller you are the harder it gets even without back pain or hip replacements. But there are lots of things that could help like putting one foot a long way forwards. Doesn’t have be perfect

Hi there, got a quick question. Sometimes when i'm trying to perform a deep screw shot, I miscue the cueball so that it jumps. What am I doing wrong??
@Breakfromlife5 жыл бұрын
Possibly, or your touching the table. Not having enough chalk on the cue could be a factor as well
@batlin5 жыл бұрын
I wonder if you might be gripping the cue too tight and trying to put too much power into the shot. The deep screw is a pretty difficult shot anyway since you're trying to hit as low as possible but not too low. If you hit it nice and smooth you don't actually need to be hitting the very bottom edge of the white, though.

Ciaran Cooling from drogheda (beside Dublin) Ireland, with a question, I’ve always thought that great cue power was just something people had but then I noticed that players like Robertson and Murphy with their very straight cue actions have buckets of cue power, is cue power proportional to how straight you cue or is it just a coincidence
