Training a 5yo Cleveland Bay mare to drive, showing her working in the carriage in town and on busy roads with plenty of traffic. We discuss our responsibilities for driving on the roads and why we drive in rubber bits, as well as why we train our horses to cope with traffic. We show some of the situations we have trained Suki to cope with calmly, so that she is safe, confident and happy in harness.

@barryhook2 these videos are amazing. I would love a Cleveland bay one day and would like to back it myself. I’ve been watching the TRT method and agree that a horse is much safer if it is trained to be confident around potential spooky features rather than just blocking it out whilst trying to focus on its rider, as this is just a formula for instinct to just kick in and overtake the riders instruction. All of the horses you train look so happy, relaxed and more importantly, confident that they’re going to survive whatever situation you put them in. People don’t seem to realise you can’t get angry with these animals. Thank you for the inspiration.
