Breaking a Guinness World Record at Whitby Abbey

On 26 May at Whitby Abbey in Yorkshire, English Heritage broke the GUINNESS WORLD RECORD™ for the largest gathering of people dressed as vampires. 1,369 vampires descended to celebrate the 125th anniversary of the publication of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, a novel much inspired by the dramatic ruins of the 11th century gothic abbey.

The record is for people dressed as vampires, if held at night, it would have been difficult to separate real from dressed as.🧛‍♂🧛‍♂

My daughter & I left Whitby the afternoon prior to this event. The train station was full of people getting off the train dressed in Gothic style. It’s nice to see that they broke the record!

I once attended a Goth music festival and there was at least 12,000 people there dressed like vampires ( but not officially dressed AS vampires)
