Gus was the only one who knew about the Twins going after Hank. Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that he was the reason Hank was warned(directly or indirectly). His motive was probably to eliminate the Twins so they wouldn't go after Walt next. Also, he has no love for the cartel. If anything, they've just been getting in his way. He called Hank at the last minute so he wouldn't have any other option but to kill them.
@SuzakuX5 жыл бұрын
Spoiler: Yes, if you've seen the show, Gus called Hank because he wanted to "bloody both sides" and pit the government against the cartel, cutting off the meth supply from Mexico and completely taking control of the supply north of the border with his own product (Walt's "blue sky" meth).

To be fair to Hank, cops are trained to shoot at the chest since it’s the largest target. It’s a lot harder to do a head shot than you think. And very, very rarely do cops ever run into perps with body armor, so there’s almost never a reason to assume the chest is not a viable target.

I don't know how the Emmys shook out that year, but Aaron Paul and Dean Norris should both deserved Best Supporting Actor for this episode. If there's any justice they would have at least been both nominated.

I feel like you guys were too hard on Hank. What was he supposed to do? Try to run and risk getting shot while focusing on that? The twins obviously followed him to that parking lot so they would follow him if he managed to get away. Should he have taken them home to his wife? Or go to a police station and tell them a story about how you got a phone call that warned him he was about be killed? For all he knew it was just a trick. There were no good options there.
@goodguykonrad37015 жыл бұрын
Hank not driving away makes sense. If the call is a hoax, he can sit around for a bit, find no one's coming, and not have to worry. If it is real, he's ready, something whoever's coming is unlikely to expect, giving him an advantage. Additionally, if he's driving, he can do nothing if he has to stop at lights, they pull alongside, and bang: he's dead.That or he was paralysed with fear.
@TheWonderfulBlake4 жыл бұрын
See I love how almost every negative thing that happens to someone in this show leads back to Walt. If Walt didn’t start cooking and selling to Tuco, he never woulda gotten kidnapped; if he never got kidnapped, Hank wouldn’t have even known about Jesse; if Hank didn’t know about Jesse, he never woulda beat him up; if Hank didn’t beat Jesse up, he never woulda lost his job and had his gun taken; if Hank never lost his job he woulda never been ambushed by the twins while unarmed. Some of the negative shit isn’t directly Walt’s fault (though a lot of it is), but even when it’s not directly his fault it can always be indirectly traced back to Walt somehow.
@rottenrook71992 жыл бұрын
I think what differentiates gale from jesse, more so than general expertise when it comes to making meth, is exactly what walt has said before: "He does what I say." When Walt told Jesse that his meth *is* good in this episode, I believe he was being genuine. Why else would he have gotten so defensive and angry when he saw what Jesse was capable of on his own? If Jesse had truly shown him a completely inferior product, that would've only stroked his ego, showing Heisenberg that he truly is the best meth manufacturer around. I think the fact that Jesse does what Walt says is so important to Walt because of what it really means is: "I can manipulate Jesse. He's loyal to me, he's a puppet that I can move around and bend to my will." Why? Just compare Jesse's home with Gale's (which we haven't seen yet obvs). Gale is eccentric, his shelves are covered with books and knickknacks, practically every corner of his tiny apartment is bleeding personality. He is unabashedly himself, and despite having an almost zealous love of Walt's work, I believe Gale respects and loves himself too much to be manipulated by Heisenberg. Jesse's home, on the other hand, is a complete blank slate. Its the home of a numb, depressed person who doesn't even care enough about himself to buy basic amenities, and when he does its all minimal, with none of his real personality showing through. The place he lives is always a reflection of the people in his life, from the good influence of Jane to the toxic crack-house of the addicts partying in his home. He needs other people to give him meaning in life. And Walt does that. Jesse believes he isn't good at anything but making meth, and he's become so reliant on the validation and guidance and attention he receives from Walt that he's willing to throw away vital parts of himself. Jesse has always struggled with self-loathing, but I think Jane's death was the catalyst that has really accelerated that decline. While I think Walt does genuinely care about Jesse at this point, we've seen plenty of evidence that he's willing to sacrifice Jesse's wellbeing for his own gain. Jesse hates and blames himself more than Walt, I think, for ruining his life. He truly believes that he's no one and nothing without the things Walt has taught him. And that makes Jesse extremely susceptible to influence, something Heisenberg knows and intends on utilizing.

I understand not liking a character and having your favorites but the girls seem very quick to hate characters like Walt for something but then so quick to forgive other characters like Hank for equally awful things.
