Yeah, honestly I never really hated Skyler, I could completely understand how she felt, to feel completely frustrated and powerless as her husband of however many years was becoming this completely different person in front of her and she tried to hold the family together while everything was falling apart because of what he was doing.

Made the most sense? In what way? I mean I know I am essentially asking that difficult question to the peanut gallery but how on earth did you get that? This seems to me like the response a "normal" person would have to this scenario. Which is probably what you are, just know, you are talking from that perspective, not the perspective of a person who has had to deal with hardship but a normal person whose biggest lost was probably their grandma when they were younger. I know the writing of this show is meant to convey the effects of a bad decision but I feel that people like you miss the deeper points of breaking bad, like pride, ego and to a certain degree, purpose. All of that gets lost on morons like your who just see victims everywhere. It's like the sixth sense but with emotional psychopaths.
@yesnickcarter
@yesnickcarter 3 жыл бұрын
@@yourmomssaidicouldhavemyun2590 I honestly have no idea what point you are making. I understand you think I am stupid. But I don’t understand what point you think I am missing. I’m just going to assume that something I said reminded you of something that makes you mad, and you just had an argument with yourself. When I say she made the most sense, I mean that her choices were the most in line with what a person would do to make the best of a given situation without causing more harm than good. What the hell do you mean finding victims everywhere? I really can’t believe you typed that response to what I said. You are clearly having your own moment on my thread.

If we think about it, Skyler's story is one of the saddest in the BB/BCS universe, in the last episode she is no longer the Skyler of the first chapter who was more optimistic and tried to look for the best for her family, in the end she lost it everything, his house, his social status and his family was completely damaged by Walt's decisions.
@sidleyparkhermit6391

The only consolation is knowing that Skyler has some kind of a future, no matter how much she's suffered. She and her kids still have each other; maybe she and Marie will find a way forward as sisters too. Whereas Walt died alone in a Nazi meth lab, knowing his whole family (and whatever friends he ever had) hated his guts.

The writing of Skyler's character had always amazed me because of how real it feels. I know that we're set up to dislike her because we're following Walt's story as the 'protagonist' and Sklyer makes it difficult for him to get away with things - but when you actually imagine yourself in her position as a partner to someone who is constantly lying to you, disappearing for days, and bringing you into a world of crime, you see just how real and reasonable most of her actions & reactions are. And I just love that she is unapologetically written as an intelligent character who can see through Walt's lies.

Watching her fall apart in the final season was pretty rough, it's insane people fail to empathize with her. Was she petty at times? Sure, but her husband was lying to her since the first episode. He was cooking and dealing METH, killing people, all while lying through his teeth. All while she had to deal with her pregnancy (AND childbirth), a son in high school (with a major disability) AND Walt having cancer. The only truly bad thing she ever did was smoke cigs while pregnant. What's even more insane is that she came around and started trying to help Walt, but he was greedy and always wanted more. He got over his head and got family killed, yet people expect her to be supportive? She had every right to leave him, the dude was a ticking time bomb like Mike said.

I'm surprised she didn't leave him sooner, she really stuck around till the end and put up with all of it and people are still saying she's "annoying" like guys why is this so hard for you to understand? If you were with someone for YEARS and you have children together and they suddenly start leading a life of crime that could endanger the entire household then how would you even sleep at night? Not to mention the entire concept of the person you were with is now suddenly a completely different person and not AT ALL the person you fell inlove with, how you gonna deal with that?

I hate that people don't realize that there is a right way and a wrong way to hate Skyler. A lot of people hate Skyler as a character, saying she's annoying and wishing she wasn't in the show. But the "right" way is: you're supposed to hate her because you as an audience member are falling for Walt's manipulation, his self-serving lies. Doing so is what makes the realization that you were rooting for a malipulative, murdering, psychopathic drug lord, and hating on his loving wife who by comparison was a saint, hit like a sack of bricks

For the people in the comments saying she’s just faking it, she’s just acting, that she’s dumb or crazy because she can’t snap out of it, she isn’t. I have personally done work of this emotional caliber at an acting school with like 10 other people in the class, where we had to “play with our cats” for 3 minutes or so, and then, immediately after, one by one, for 3 minutes, say our final goodbyes to them on their death bed at the vet in front of the entire class. The sheer raw power of that experience will haunt me until the day I die. Every single emotion in that room was real and you could FEEL it. THAT is what real acting looks like and feels like, and Anna Gunn did a phenomenal job in this scene.

Walt needed her and she needed to cover for her family. She realised walt isn't gonna change no matter what she does so she changed to protect the family. 3. She gave ted the money to protect walt and her family. Cause ted wasn't gonna money back to irs and if irs checks ted account, they will check all of the employess accounts too and that means they will get to skyler and walt too. I dislike Skyler for a very simple reason: She made fundamental 180 turns on a whim whenever the plot needed her to, particularly in the early seasons. Going from concerned wife to serving divorce papers to protecting a meth cook using legal loopholes, turning from upstanding citizen and mom to money laundering accomplice who pays a cop's medical bills with drug money, plus the unnecessary drama (dealing with Ted, jumping in the pool etc.)... I could never shake the feeling that she was more of a plot device than a character even after she got more consistent in the last couple of seasons. Props to Anna Gunn though, she sells the character really well.

The last jedi is in a weird place for me. Because its my least favorite Star Wars movie without a doubt. But it's also probably the best written of the sequels. The main issue I have with it is that it doesn't fit well in the universe. Like the chase makes no sense to me. My only thought was why doesn't half of Kylo's fleet just hyperspace jump in front of the resistance and pincer move. The big one was Luke considering taking out Kylo even if he instantly decided not to. It doesn't fit. Especially when watching these movies in order. Going from redeem Vader Luke to kill Ben Luke feels wrong. Even if you say it's been 30 years, we as the audience weren't shown enough to justify the change in Luke. So looking at it as a standalone movie. It's not that bad. But as a star Wars movie in the main series, I can't stand it. Whatever, the sequels are done and they sucked. It was doomed from force awakens. Imagine being given creative control over the beast that is Star Wars. Then going with Empire vs Rebels again just with different names.

Yeah, he killed a lot of people, put her family in danger, was partially guilty for the murder of Hank, the death of hundreds of people in the plane and the kidnapped of Jesse... But yeah, she deserves been hate, even when his husband also try to hook with her boss (but he was rejected, otherwise he would probably will cheated her). I don't particularly love the character, but think that in that situation (her husband is a drogue lord and, if she denounces him her entire family will be affected, and the divorce looks like something very problematic for her son and daughter) she's the one in the wrong and the one that deserve the hate is incredible ignorant

Watching back through the episode, they didn't even use these takes in the episode. I kinda feel bad for Anna seeing this and knowing she put so much into this and it didn't even get used, although what did get used is much more subtle and fits just fine.

One of the difficulties of the job I guess, having to replicate emotion over and over again, and then have the scene edited down or even potentially removed altogether. I would guess that there are hundreds of thousands of hours of top quality acting on film from thousands of actors that we will never see

These are the types of scenes I watch and realize that acting just isn’t for everybody. And I don’t even mean the obvious point that not everyone’s good enough to be an actor, but perhaps more importantly, it takes a special talent to bring yourself to such a place, emotionally, to properly portray the character, and then walk away from it and return to your own life, in this case, hopefully a much happier one. Credit to the crew for helping Anna through it all.

And equally for directors, they have to repeatedly watch the actors go into those vulnerable, dark mental states. I'm not sure that I'd be able to watch that over and over like them. You can say that's the script or the job, but I'd still probably feel a decent amount of guilt.

So weird to see the whole “action” and watch her go into Skyler mode then stop but see how she still is effected by the persona she is portraying, that is how really good actors are I suppose, if they really get into it as they obviously must to be convincing then they can not just switch off those emotions when someone yells “cut” never really considered this, I wonder if all good actors are like this or if some really talented ones can just switch it off when cameras have stopped rolling!

Skylar is the pinnacle representation of Walt's old life. The writers face us with the crazy dilemma of pitting the audience against her, since she becomes the resistance to the narrative. Walt built a safe, mundane cage of self defeat and loathing and she ultimately was the warden. Many people (especially men) can sympathize with Walt, in relating to his life before the business. An exhaustive list of failures and shattered dreams, are what sells this tragedy. Large in part because it's a self reflection for the many that are Walt but never ended up breaking bad. They cheer him on, as they shake their fist from inside their own little cages.

What's ironic is that RoS sucked because it tried to fix TLJ rather than improve upon it, similar to what TLJ did with Force Awakens. RoS should have take the Revenge of the Sith route and improve upon the previous films flaws instead of trying to fix them.
