Imagine if Hank never checked it and immediately gave that "confession" of Walter to DEA.
@MintyLime7033 жыл бұрын
Doesn't account for the fact that Walter gave the CD to Hank. Why would he do that if it were genuine? They should easily figure out it was meant to be a threat given proof that Walter handed it over deliberately, which multiple eye witnesses can attest to.
@Banishedsoulsofficial3 жыл бұрын

@@MintyLime703 Hank is the head of the DEA, he can easily get into the Walter house and take it, and by giving it to the DEA he can make those people to think the way you do, and clean him self. So anyway you see it Hank is not clean.
@iminumst78272 жыл бұрын
@@MintyLime703 The only "eye witnesses" who actually say the CD pass was Skyler and Marie, since Skyler would side with Walt, it would be a she said vs she said situation. Walt and Skyler could easily argue a couple things, they could argue that Hank stole the CD. They could also confess that the CD was made for blackmail without confessing to lying in the CD, instead they could say that they gave it to Hank because they wanted out of the business and out of Hanks oppression without getting involved with the police, so they showed Hank the CD of real and true confession so that Hank would let Walter live. This makes sense because if the video did go public there's still a chance Walt is convicted of some of the crimes he confessed to even if Walt argues he was coerced or entrapped. If Hank just immediately handed the CD over to the police and said that it was all lies, the police would still be obligated to investigate Hank. If the police just believed Hank's side of the story that would be an abuse of power. The investigation would quickly show that Walt was indeed paying for Hank's medical bills, which is the one thing that would make Walt's story look real. Why? Because if Hank was innocent it wouldn't make sense for Walter to pay for the medical bills unless Walt was on really good terms with Hank, and the confession video true or not confirms the fact that Walt does not love Hank. It's possible Hank could just trust more evidence is found to support Hank's story, but that's a leap of faith, because Hank has no idea to what extent Walter went through to fabricate evidence for his side of the story. For all Hank knew, Walt could have been taking some of Hank's stuff and placing it at crime scenes and whatnot. The scary thing for Hank was not knowing how long Walt was actively framing Hank, we know the video was on the spot improvisation, but from Hank's perspective it's possible that Walt for years has secretly hated Hank and was partially in the meth business just to ruin Hank's reputation.

Aside from the blatantly evil masterminded script that turns all of Hank's hard work against him, there's even hidden meaning in there just for Hank and Marie. Walt really does want to quit because of the people he hurt and the pieces of his soul that have been eroded away, but now they won't let him - they're in his way. In a twisted way, the tears are real, and he loves them both. Everyone he loves now despises him and no amount of repentance can change it now, and he knows he deserves it. God, what a masterpiece - the tragedy of a corrupted soul.

Holy shit, this was a mighty big game changer for me when I first saw this. The whole show we were seeing everything from the POV of Walt and Jesse, but this made me realize Walt’s opinion of himself was so high that he purposely blocked Hank’s involvement and prevented the audience from deducing that Hank’s attempts to stop the meth empire were all just an elaborate cover to hide himself as the true Heisenberg! If you think about the show in totality, it’s clear Walt cares deeply for Hank. He’s tried to protect him many times, including trying to keep him in the dark about his messy, violent world. I’m sure deep down, Walt wished he could just end that life and tell Hank everything, as he was as close to a brother as he ever had. But Heisenberg’s hubris and his own cowardice won’t let him. I see this CD as simultaneously a confession to Hank (most details are accurate) and a cover his ass blackmail to ensure he can’t do anything with the info, a hybrid solution resulting from a split personality, as Heisenberg doesn’t want to get caught and lose and Walt doesn’t want to ruin his family’s life (even more) by having him outted as a drug kingpin and mass murderer. In the end, Hank’s death and Walt’s helplessness to stop it was one of the final straws that triggered Walt’s last transformation, making him realize Heisenberg can’t cheat it all, and all his attempts to help his family actually hurt them more and more, and that it was all an excuse, and all his fault. The tower of cards came crumbling down, and he saw clearly for once. That initiated his “redemption” arc; he couldn’t save Hank and his family, but he should at least try to save Jesse, the first life he ruined. The way Walt killed Jack in revenge in the finale, mid sentence and in the same position as Hank, puts the cap on how much he cared about Hank. Anyway that’s my take on their tragic brolationship.

It wasn’t until I rewatched the show that there would be so many false clues the DEA could have against Hank. Like in S2 when he was telling them about Tuco’s shootout and they asked why he was there in the first place, he says “An unrelated family matter” then the chief says he was out looking for his brother in law who was missing. They would think Hank was in a drug deal related shootout with Tuco and that his “missing” brother in law was actually already there. Then they would start rethinking why the cartel was after Hank and tried to assassinate him. Kinda hard to explain but you get the point.
