Podcast Notes: Buried Guests: writer Tom Schnauz, director Michelle MacLaren, Anna Gunn (Skyler), Betsy Brandt (Marie) 1. Homage to the X-files - car up at the top of the hill with lights on, illuminating monkey bars, like a spacecraft 2. One of the hardest things they had to figure out this year in writing was what Skyler was going to do - thousands of hours spent discussing it. 3. If you look up the coordinates, they are for ABQ Studios. There was a messed up person who was digging somewhere I Albuquerque & when the police questioned him, he said he was with Breaking Ava’s & was dogging to find the key to the city...??? 4. They had a fake baby in the scene for the takes Marie & Skyler were actually screaming, then, they were mouthing their words quietly in the takes with the twins who played Holly 5. Before the show started filming, Bryan got the main cast all together to hang out & bond, and they all hit it off pretty quickly. It’s helped their on-screen relationships immensely 6. The Skyler/Marie scene is so sad. Marie is the person Skyler loves more than anyone besides her kids, and she wants to tell her everything so badly, but she can’t. 7. Anna & Betsy are do emotionally caught up in it, they broke down during the podcast ❤️

@ghenry45135 жыл бұрын
This episode has 2 of my favorite scenes: Skyler and Hank at the diner (Anna Gunn's acting is just superb. Suspicious of Hank possibly implicating her and capable of arresting her, so the way she asked if she was under arrest and stormed out was just amazing); and Lydia visiting Declan and his crew and taking them out (that scene was just jaw dropping because just when you think things couldn't escalate anymore, she orchestrates a complete takeout of Declan's crew while she hides underground like a snake; also, for some reason I love the dialogue in that scene between Lydia and Declan). Honorable mention: Huell and Kuby's funny money scene, Declan saying Todd started a fire on his third cook (funny), Walt giving brief careless attention towards the idea that Huell and Kuby may have "skimmed" off the top and those two looking at each other like they know, Marie whacking Skyler on the side of the face and trying to steal Holly, and Saul and "Belize".....Hold onto your hats. Something from the pilot episode is about to come back in a clever callback and you'll never guess what it is.

The fact that Nikki was surprised that Walt wouldn't want to willingly murder his own brother-in-law in cold blood, speaks volumes as to how much she has misunderstood Walt's character through much of this show. So at this point in the show why is it not in line with his character? He has shown a new level of deterioration in every episode leading to his empire moment. Why wouldn't he take out an in-law to protect his wife and kids? When push comes to shove, it's really about him protecting his kids and providing a long term future for them. I know it's a really hard thing to do but remember we have not seen how this all plays out. The location where Walter buries his money, is the same place Jesse and Walt first cooked meth, and the first place where Jesse and Walter had their first drugdeal with Krazy-8 and Emilio Koyama.

This is just so well put together - Marie was absolutely right about going to them asap rather than waiting. Hank made the wrong choice and paid for it.

It's not that Walt has moral limits, he's still deluding himself that he's cooking for his family's benefit as opposed to his ego.

It's interesting that many viewers expect Walt to have no limits to what he would be willing to do (e.g., kill Hank), and expect psychopathy from him. So many people describe him as a psychopath, actually. He's not, though. That's what makes his character such a true villain. It would be so much simpler if he were a psychopath, because that would easily explain why he does such horrific things, and would strip his character of all complexity. But psychopathy is rare; not even all serial killers are true psychopaths. The truth about Walt is that he's just a man who has made terrible choices and done progressively more awful things for reasons he has always found a way to justify to himself due to his own character flaws (namely: pride and egotism) - and that is way scarier than him just being a psychopath. And, interestingly, this also seems to be why so many people find it difficult not to root for him even when they absolutely shouldn't. They need *him* to be wholly evil before they can stop caring about him, no matter how many truly evil things he has actually *done*.

These people have to be some of the very few who actually cheered on the police during their reaction. It was odd and distracting. And they didn't understand the difference between mowing down a couple of drug dealers and murdering a family member.

I am so glad you did not watch Breaking Bad until now. It's made re-watching it great. Like running into an old childhood friend and you're both doing well. ⛏💰👠🤐

Skyler did 100% the right thing! Hank want's this so bad, he would have taken her down too to get Walt. Probably not intentionally, but she would have been in bad shape. Deals have to be made with prosecutors...law enforcement can't guarantee sh*t!

Jesse is alone again and started using and has nobody he broke up with Andrea and doesn't want the blood money all he can think about is the bad things that has happened because of him and Walt and the fact that he lost Walt too he became a scary monster for him and he knows Mike is dead and he really looked up to him so he has no one now and he never even knew that through all the manipulation and fights from Walt that deep down he did care about him like a nephew
