I love how much they clearly respect each other. Half of these commentaries are compliments and it’s great. Always hate learning that things I love were made by people who didn’t get along or worse.

They comment that don eladio was celebrating his victory with a subservient Gus. But no one pointed out that he waited for gus to drink before drinking himself. You know. Just in case :) smart move. I was wondering how tf gus avoided being poisoned before realizing he didn’t. Bad ass scene.

Gus knew he won't avoid it, he had a doctor set up specifically for the poison draining just to survive. It's a well written scene and gives more Gus backstory in a way that Don Eladio distrusts the drink because perhaps Gus poisoned people in Chile

The charcoal pills he took at the pool were to help absorb the poison he wasn’t able to vomit

I actually mistyped this comment originally. I was impressed that don eladio had not. Even poisoned before. As he waited for gus to drink the same contents before he did. He’s a cautions man too. Although more boisterous.

RJ's humility is so sweet - but I hope he knows truly how sweet a moment he made that scene with his "dad." Having seen it a dozen times, it has yet failed to bring tears to my eyes. "To remember you like this... wouldn't be so bad. At least you're real."

I must concur. I was so thankful for my first car. It was 1996 and she was a blue 1992 Pontiac Grand Am, 4 door with a cassette tape deck and she was my cutie! A used car with about 60K miles on her, but to me, she was like new and perfect. I took pride in keeping my car neat and clean, washed and waxed. I saved up for about a year to have the windows tinted and to buy and have installed a Pioneer stereo system with a cd player. If the PT Cruiser had existed back in the 90s, I’d have been stoked to have such a cute one with so few miles. And those cars are SO COMFY, so roomy, and seriously pretty fun! I rented one just like this, only it was a cream color, for a 13 hour road trip I had to and 13 hour drive back from a family wedding. I had my beloved Schnauzer doggo baby with me. He was about 12-13 pounds and so awesome. He loved car rides, and this one was extra comfy for him. I like how the PT Cruiser felt like driving a hybrid of a car, a truck, a van, and a SUV. It felt and the way it feels and looks from the driver seat POV is unlike any other vehicle I’ve ever experienced in my 30 years of driving. All of this to say….. You’re goddamn right.

@@isaacweisberg3571 Yes Aaron Paul was in episode 5 of the 9th season of the X-Files called "Lord of the flies" in Vince Gilligan worked with Chris Carter on The X-Files he co-wrote 30 episodes of The X-Files that's where he met Bryan Cranston and saw his performance when he guest starred in season 6 episode 2 called "Drive", The X-Files had a lot of famous people who weren't that famous back then including a very young Ryan Reynolds who played a small role guest starring on The X-Files in season 3 episode 13 called "Syzygy" he is only in the beginning and he dies Aaron Paul had a longer screen time in his episode and a little tidbit Ryan Reynolds and Aaron Paul are both in Van Wilder we all know Ryan Reynolds was the star of that movie but not many people know that Aaron Paul was the little guy in the hallway that was always drunk always informing van Wilder's dad where he can be found lol

Interesting that such major Walt Jr and Jesse character development happen in this episode. Of course I remember the scene with Walter and Jr, but in my head I don't parse it as the B plot to Jesse in Mexico. Guess its just that good lol

Anyone who thought Muhammad Ali could handle Bruce Lee in a serious street fight would have to figure that he could take ANY martial arts expert. That would have to include Chuck Norris, Ed Parker, Jackie Chan, Dan Inosanto, Stephen Segal, Bong-soo Han, and, for that matter, any Navy SEAL! Ali was a pro boxer. He didn't know martial arts. He'd have had his ass splattered against any of those guys. I simply get pissed when someone tries to discredit Bruce Lee, esp when he isn't around to defend his reputation. But any doubts abt Chinese martial arts experts, just try challenging them to a real fist fight. You won't last. Even if you're a pro boxer with the World Title.

Kung fu "masters" get their asses handed to them by mid level MMA practitioners all the time
@robvangessel3766
@robvangessel3766 10 ай бұрын
I doubt it. It never happed to Bruce Lee or any of the other guys I mentioned here. And most of the MMA practitioners are not trained to redirect the opponent's weight or to know all the nerve strike points, that can be disabling or sometimes lethal. Also, I was mainly referring to the Muhammad Ali/Bruce Lee nonsense. Ali had NO martial training. And while we're talking abt getting asses handed to them, pro-boxers lose lots of street fights. Because their training is limited to rules and a repetitive punching routine. But, ultimately, best way to bet your money is by matching a pair of fighters from those backgrounds. Right? @@hardpack187

"Masters", as I recall, refers to inventors of a specific fighting system. Bruce Lee became a Master of Jeet Kune Do.@@hardpack187

@@robvangessel3766 Bruce Lee was not a wizard. There's no way he would be able to overcome a 100lb+ weight disadvantage. Furthermore, Bruce Lee has never had a professional fight in his life, so he's not conditioned to withstand punishment. One solid hit from Ali, and physics dictate the fight is over. As for your nerve strike bullshido, stop watching Kiss of the Dragon and 3 Ninjas.
@robvangessel3766
@robvangessel3766 10 ай бұрын
No one is a "wizard". It's about a system of mechanics and speed. The basis of Chinese martial arts is diverting weight and using it against your opponent. They USE that physics against a larger adversary - and striking nerve points, as in the groin, gut, neck, etc. Fast and exact high kicks to the temple, eyes, throat...it can get pretty nasty! These guys also know how to break your limbs (like jiu-jitsu). Want to find out? Have Shaquille O'Neal pick a street fight with Jet Li, You'd see how it works.Alas, until such an arrangement is made, we have to go with our assumptions. Yours clearly being ignorant about those fighting systems. I, myself, in a fight long ago, demolished a much bigger guy- with some tricks, of course.@@hardpack187
