The male gaze, or just people's gaze, and seeking validation from it is crucial to Western culture; we live in a society where women are a commodity, and our youth, body and sexuality have a price tag. So, I appreciate your raw honesty. Modesty is different for people, but I enjoy how I dress modestly even though I do not wear the hijab.

Assalamu'alaikum Fathima. May Allah SWT make it easy for you in your hijab journey.😊 I'm born muslim. Your comment reminds me of how I chose the day to wear hijab about 20yrs ago. It took me about a year (grade 11 ish) from the moment I knew I wanted to wear hijab to the actual day I started wearing one (mid summer before entering Grade 12). At first I planned to wear it immediately, but then I was thinking of prom in grade 12 (ooh the dresses, the parties, the fun) and my imagination jumped ahead to how my uni experience would be like if I worn hijab (I thought I'd feel excluded, friendless..all these fears). Then moved up to my imaginary first job (what if they discriminated against me because of the hijab?). After going back and forth a while, hidayah finally came to me alhamdulillah and I remembered, "What if you die tomorrow and you still haven't worn hijab? How are you going to explain that to Allah?"...and you know what? all the fears were just that..fears in your head. First day of school, the only other muslimah friend at school ran towards me and gave me the biggest hug 😍 it was so comforting. At uni, I had the bestest group of friends (non muslims) I could ever have, I met more muslims because they know just from the hijab that I'm muslim (smiling and saying salaam to strangers on the street actually feels nice). At supermarkets and cafes, because of my hijab, strangers kindly remind me if there's pork/alcohol in food/drinks that I'm having. So, truly, the hijab is a protection in many ways. Embrace the hijab and stay connected to Allah SWT. Enjoy!

I’m a Christian however I have much respect for Islam ☪️ . I love the consistency such as the daily prayers. The world we live has dark forces working none stop to snuff the good out… the Bible quotes in Proverbs 4:10-27 (must read) God gives us the secret to life and warns us the wicked don’t rest until they do evil or hurt someone… the wicked are like those that stumble in the dark they can’t see what hurts them…. God provides us this secret to avoid…b/c “misery loves company” We can’t do this unless we are firmly locked in with God/Allah/Yahweh. For instance, distraction is one of the major tools used to steer us away from God leaving us more susceptible to wicked forces… the story of Job is beautiful as well with all that the Devil took from Job he never allow those forces to consume him. Instead he shaved himself bare and went directly to God. Keep it up, I love this for you. 🙏🏾

I was born and raised Pentecostal (iykyk). Within the last few years post-pandemic I was faced with the challenge to question my own faith. Questions like, “Why do I believe in this?”. Fast forward to today, I had to unlearn a lot and relearn some truths about my faith. But now I made this my own faith and not the faith my parent gave me. MODESTY in the life of Pentecostal women also looks different and has many reasons that align with everything you said Leana ❤ I’s incredible to hear that! I wish there were more clothing lines for Pentecostal women who have decided to wear ✨the skirt✨ for gym, outdoor, & scrubs for the healthcare profession. Thank you Leana for being an inspiration to ladies across the globe…even in different walks of faith! 🤍🩷 MUCH LOVE FROM HOUSTON!

a couple months ago, i was crossing the road when some random guy came & grabbed my ass from behind. mind you, I’m fully clothed. Wearing hijab and a long skirt. And literally only my face & hands can be seen. Cat-calling is one thing but this was the first time I had ever gotten sexually harassed in broad dailylight, i was so shocked … that i just stood there, frozen & in tears. I can’t even begin to fathom the height of harassment women face when they’re not adhering to modesty. Ofc wearing the hijab protects us from the perversions of some men but unfortunately we’re in the day and age were even the hijab has become fetishised. And some people are just foul and filthy. So i think as Muslim women, we have to remind ourselves, why we are doing this, why we are wearing it … not for cultural reasons, not as a fashion accessory but because of Allah’s commands. Because we want to please him in the best of ways, even if it’s difficult at times, so we can be amongst the best of his creations ✨

it is so true we are all on our own journeys. I have this desire to start wearing abayas. I have spent too much money and time on fashion and searching for the right bag/shoes/then you need the top, the bottom etc. I recently came from a trip from the Caribbean and nothing made me feel more beautiful than walking around at sunrise when the workers and a few were awake. I was in my hijab and abaya and felt so beautiful and so free.Even though I had beautiful colourful summer resort clothing. I was listening to nasheeds and I felt so alive. Worship the Creator over the creation. I started to wear hijab after I reverted about 12/13 yrs. I loved hearing stores of how the P s women would cover their heads and bodies to be covered when they met thier Rabb should something happen in the night in their homes that was back then. I ended up having some opportunities for dawah too which was a gift more for myself. Slowly I am learning to not care about what other's think. It is hard though as we always want to be liked by everyone. Glad you found your tribe sis.

What a beautiful message. I’ve watched your videos from the beginning. You truly are inspirational. I’m Christian and this hit right where it needs to in my own journey to being closer to my faith and finding out what it truly means to be unapologetic to myself and not a mirror of what others think I should be. Thank you speaking out loud what a lot of women think in silence. 🤍✨

You go girl❤. The first video of you that i saw is when you deleted all your videos. I subscribed thinking what a bold move she did! May Allah ease your way and all of us with modesty and life in general😊
