If, as a singer, you cannot hit the notes of the vocal melody, then please do not play the song live. I am tired of singers singing a different melody line because they cant perform the stuff live. You don't change a vocal melody to fit acoustic dummy. The vocal melody IS the vocal melody, they are notes that can be written out on sheet music. If you change that, it isn't the same vocal melody. Hmm. He changed the last way he sings part of So Cold in AOL Sessions. He sings 'show me how defenseless'... "You really are!" ... in a much higher note to bring a bit more variety to the acoustic set. Artists change the vocal melody around all the time when performing acoustic sets. Just look up 'Breaking Benjamin Hopeless Acoustic' and you'll see.

You could also look up "Benjamin Burnley hits ridiculously high note."
