Sources say the 49ers are expected to explore trading Samuel this offseason. While it's not a certainty that Samuel is done in San Francisco, it's enough of a possibility that both sides appear to be at peace with moving on if it goes that way.

The 49ers have granted Deebo Samuel and his agent Tory Dandy permission to find a trade partner for the wide receiver, Samuel told ESPN. This comes after Samuel asked San Francisco to trade him during the players’ exit meetings after the season.
“It was a hard conversation to have with Kyle (Shanahan) because of the relationship that we have,” Samuel said today. “But I have to do what’s best. I’m more than thankful for the Niners giving me the opportunity of a lifetime, but now I think it’s best that we find another team.”
This past season, Samuel had a career-low 51 catches (not including the injury-riddled 2020 season) with just 670 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a career-low 81 targets (not including 2020).

The 49ers fell out of contention earlier than expected this season, which, naturally, set off another round of will-they-or-won’t-they when it came to Brock Purdy’s massive contract extension. Let’s clear this up right now: They will get it done. And the 49ers aren’t dragging their feet - the team wants a deal soon and have started conversations with Purdy’s camp.
This was always the plan. The Niners have never wavered on Purdy as their franchise quarterback, not after his breakout run, not after leading them to a Super Bowl, and definitely not now after a disappointing 2024 season. But if you need one more endorsement, just ask Fred Warner, who couldn’t wait to talk about Purdy earlier this week:

No, Garrett is not worth the 11th pick overall. He is 29 and in his injury prone years. The best bet is to trade down to about the 17th pick overall to pick up an additional 2nd round pick and than use those two picks on Nick Scourton DE and Alfred Collins DT. That will solidify the D-line. Than use the other 2nd on the best OT available and an OG with the first of two 3rd round picks.

We are already getting tons of picks this year from our minority coaches too! We have 7 picks rn plus we're getting other picks for those minorities hires. Myles would bring this D to the next level 5 line men would have to account for bosa and Myles leaving the middle free to pass rush every single time. I repeat NO ONE in this class on D side of the ball will even make a quarter of an impact that Myles would have on this team. Dudes better than bosa no doubt about it! Every qb and oline would fear for their lives the whole game with those 2 alone! On top of Fred (who's going to be blitzing a lot more this year)

Why is it selfish for Deebo to discuss being a trade on Super Bowl Sunday? He didn't take any shine off the Super Bowl for crying in the sink, it would take something a lot bigger than this. But its a good way use the peak interest in the NFL to publicize his situation. I think its smart, attention on Deebo is not mutually exclusive to attention of the Super Bowl.

This is very very difficult for me along with millions of fans and very very difficult for Kyle Shanahan. We LOVE Deebo!!! We love his character, his personality on the field and off the field, and we love what he has brought to the 49er game, but this trade was a long time a coming. His game had been slowing down....he had a great off season last year...but his game is still declining. There are new players mostly Rookies who are entering the league like Malik Nabors and Brian Thomas who are more talented than him and faster than him.....and he knows that.....right....so get him and us a good trade deal.... and everyone will be happy.

It will be a great move for the future if he is any good in his new team. Deebo should be traded. I could see him sandbagging in some games. From the later part of the season playing much better than earlier in the year. If we can get Adams for a good to equal deal? I’ll take it.

Trade him to a weaker team, i.e. Washington or Atlanta, do not trade him to a elite team! The way Deebo has behaved this season he should have been traded anyway! Hitting his own players, dropping key catches, and now injury prone. Did he step up this season, no......on the decline and needs to go! Free up the money and re-sign Dre Greenlaw, a center and a kicker! Purdy needs a normal contract and not a modern day silly one, spread the money and strengthen the whole team. Next season with a few additions will be a brilliant one - Go 49ERS!
